The E-Myth Revisited really draws you in by using stories to exemplify such technical skills. Most of all, it continually brings you back to the concept that my business is the feeling or value, and what I sell is the commodity. This resonates. I’m excited to get started building my small business!

Historia
We live in a world that’s obsessed with talent. We celebrate gifted students in school, natural athletes in sports, and child prodigies in music. But admiring people who start out with innate advantages leads us to overlook the distance we ourselves can travel. We underestimate the range of skills that we can learn and how good we can become. We can all improve at improving. And when opportunity doesn’t knock, there are ways to build a door.

The opposite of erasure- Healing the omissions from history
Revisado: 02-24-24
A truly delightful book for young and old readers. The expansiveness and clarity of the narrative provides a marvelous overview of world history. There are delightful nuggets of illumination that evaporate old tropes rooted in the dregs of white supremacy. Some notable examples include: science base explanations behind melanin in skin, the migration patterns of early humans and the evolution of diverse phenotypes.
This is book is truly a delight.

Though there are many factors behind such success, including luck and the contributions of his creative partner Marshall Herskovitz, he’s known to have a special talent for bringing out the best in the people he’s worked with, notably the actors. In those intense collaborations, he seeks to discover the small pieces of connective tissue, vulnerability, and fellowship that can help an actor realize their character in full.

Authentic, Sobering & Full of Grace
Revisado: 02-17-24
Overall:
I was completely engrossed by the telling of his story. I realized just recently that Mr. Zwick is probably one of my favorite directors. Glory & Courage Under Fire triggered the flood gates when I needed them most. It was only by divine synchronicity that he recently penned his memoir just when I was searching for more information about his process. He completely delivered🙏🏾🌈♥️💯✍🏾
Performance: The voice of the author is almost always better when it comes to memoir. Mr Zwick has a pleasing sound and the audio version places me right across the dining room table following the ups and downs of the his miraculous career.
Content:
He goes all in and reveals himself, the industry and many notable figures in a manner that is candid, respectful, sobering, vulnerable, illuminating, and inspiring.

Historia
Inspired by her research for the hit podcast Ultra, Rachel Maddow charts the rise of a wild American strain of authoritarianism that has been alive on the far-right edge of our politics for the better part of a century. Before and even after our troops had begun fighting abroad in World War II, a clandestine network flooded the country with disinformation aimed at sapping the strength of the U.S. war effort and persuading Americans that our natural alliance was with the Axis, not against it.

A Supremely Erudite Scholar Who Writes For The Masses
Revisado: 10-29-23
Wow! Rachel Maddow is one the great journalists of her generation: Dr. Maddow belongs in the pantheon of great T.V. journalists like Edward R. Morrow, Walter Cronkite, Mike Wallace, and Barbara Walters.
The audible version of the printed book is beautifully rendered, nearly word for word. The only revisions are those made in service to clarity and a more enjoyable aural experience. No doubt her experience as a TV broadcaster unfolds many dividends in this forum.
As for the content, Dr. Maddow goes to great effort to carefully guide the listener/reader through a dizzying array detailed research and reporting. Her storytelling prowess is in full bloom in this work, There are more a dozen important characters and she weaves their journeys together so deftly that each one remains indelibly stamped in my memory.
Initially, I was troubled by the book’s title and Dr. Maddow’s insistence that the events depicted in this book do not represent a repeat into today’s headlines. But after completing the full journey I have a fuller appreciation for her nuanced perspective of how history intersects with current events.

Historia
In this lyrical, unsentimental, and compelling memoir, the son of a Black African father and a White American mother searches for a workable meaning to his life as a Black American. It begins in New York, where Barack Obama learns that his father - a figure he knows more as a myth than as a man - has been killed in a car accident. This sudden death inspires an emotional odyssey - first to a small town in Kansas, from which he retraces the migration of his mother’s family to Hawaii, and then to Kenya, where he meets the African side of his family.

What a blessing to hear…
Revisado: 05-27-23
Mr. Obama, long before he had pierced the nation’s zeitgeist displays a brilliant mind and a writer’s gift of commanding eloquence. He teaches intimate and immense lessons while he explores questions that haunt all of mankind.
Mr. Obama’s voice work is as polished as one might hope from a professional actor. There are perhaps a few moments when his impersonations of the various characters might slip slightly but for the most part he is quite adept at recreating important conversations in the story.
Part 3 is fraught with tension and heartache. He has skillfully front loaded the obligatory exposition so the reader is fully invested emotionally in the pilgrimage to Kenya to meet his family. This part is so well done. There were moments when I wished I was reading the text simultaneously and seeing pictures of his family members that I suspect are included in the printed version of the book.
Overall: Mr. Obama’s meditations on origin, identity, faith and grace are transformative and healing. His stories conjure a wealth of personal reflections and leave me flush with understanding and inspiration.

Historia
What would it be like to live in a well-rested world? Far too many of us have claimed productivity as the cornerstone of success. Brainwashed by capitalism, we subject our bodies and minds to work at an unrealistic, damaging, and machine‑level pace—feeding into the same engine that enslaved millions into brutal labor for its own relentless benefit. In Rest Is Resistance, Tricia Hersey, aka the Nap Bishop, casts an illuminating light on our troubled relationship with rest and how to imagine and dream our way to a future where rest is exalted.

Window into the process of a legendary reporter
Revisado: 10-26-22
This experiment of publishing raw tapes with annotation is a noteworthy addition to the canon of important journalism. The regular commentary throughout provides essential context and fact checking.
I have always wondered what would be the allure for a politician giving so much access to a reporter who is most likely not going write an article or book that flatters. But Mr. Woodward is a rigorous conversationalist who deftly challenges, taunts and seduces Mr. Trump into an eruption of ideas, perspectives that reveal the overflow of his heart, intellect and moral compass. The river of flaws is simultaneously galling and humanizing.
Mr. Woodward reveals so much of prowess as an interviewer. Most people who occupy these political roles are consumed with legacy and there are few journalists better than Mr Woodward who can promise to burnish your efforts into the annals of history.
I enjoyed this thoroughly.
