I'm torn. I liked many things about this book.

I am not a die-hard sci-fi fan, but I wanted to try something new.
I enjoyed much of this book and the story held my interest.
The problem for me was that the author put in very long and very technical explanations and descriptions of everything. Maybe this is a common part of world building in this genre, but I found it boring and distracting. I did not feel it was necessary to my overall understanding and enjoyment of the book. So, I guess I will have to check out the listeners reviews of book 2 before I buy.

I struggled to finish this.

Fantasy, romance ..Really?

Abduction and mutilation in the first few chapters. This book is sick and disgusting not romantic. A man abducts, brands and basically enslaves a woman, and we are supposed to believe she tames him and falls in love with him. I believe it is called Stockholm syndrome not love.

I liked the storyline just fine but ...

This was well written and interesting, but it could have been so much better with a more talented performer. The reader did not bring Rome to life the way someone like John Lee could have. The reader ruined a good story.

Far too preachy!

This author awkwardly places religious content throughout. It is out of place and ruins the flow of the story. This book should be grouped with religious fiction. It is not so much the content but the authors poor execution that ultimately make this story fail.

Awful!!

All the great reviews made this book sound good .To me the main character seemed annoying and just plain stupid. The fake, over the top Jersey/ NY accent is awful. I found this very hard to listen to,my brain kept saying make it stop! This ranks as one of the worst books I have gotten on audible.

Where do I begin?

First of all the narration is horrendous. There just isn't any other way to put it. Secondly the content is juvenile, It would be a stretch to even call it YA in my opinion. I was very disappointed.
