Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

I thought the story line was well integrated and I enjoyed the smart octopus and the shifts in perspective.

Historia
The real value of money is not to buy more things, it’s to “buy” more time to spend with people and on activities we cherish most. Time is the most used word in the English language, its meaning so obvious, until we try to explain it. By listening to this book, you will learn how science has revealed the true nature of time, how to understand it, value it, and experience more of it.

Worth your time!
Revisado: 09-15-24
Treasuring Time really makes you think. Early on in the book the author discusses how “time” is one thing we cannot buy more of and the perspective that we can be “rich” with access to time really makes you consider how you use it! The book also does a dive into history around time and I learned a number of new things from listening. As a cancer survivor also this topic just resonates. It’s a book I’ll come back to and I’ll continue to remind myself that “time” really is one of the most precious things in this life and to make sure I use mine well. Take a listen!

Historia
We all suffer, but if you struggle with why that is and how to find the hope and strength to go on, this book is for you. Ryan shares his journey from the darkest depths of hysterical sadness to acceptance, understanding, and joy. He explores the purpose of suffering and shows you how to gain from it. He does this not on a grand humanity level, but on a vulnerable, personal level, with unique insights that will make a difference in how you live and how you approach death.

Authentic and Thought Provoking Read
Revisado: 06-25-24
I listened to this book while hiking this weekend. It’s the perfect starter for thinking about the role of hope in our lives. The book had me thinking about my relationship with god and reminded me that hope can be present in many ways as we encounter life’s hurdles and tribulations. As a cancer survivor much of the book resonated with me. My biggest takeaway is that love is a currency we can spend endlessly and that is never taken away and that reminder gives me the most hope of all. Thank you for this authentic reflection!
