Historia
Neither cosmic philosopher Lars Soren, hotshot pilot Bianca Petrescu, nor the high priestess Jessica McHugh—Lady Death herself—can say quite where in the galaxy they are. But after an experiment gone horribly wrong, one thing is clear: Asphodel Station isn’t in orbit around Jupiter any longer. Worse, the monsters that live out here—ancient eldritch beings thought only to exist in stories and nightmares—have now been alerted to Earth’s existence.

Deteriorates into a Transformer Cartoon
Revisado: 10-14-24
The initial dilemma of the warp gun failure has some promise but it is quickly abandoned. If you're a 6th grader, the stereotypical, shallow, characters and totally predictable action lines will be able to hold your interest. More and more, the author seems to be coasting downhill.

Historia
Meet Jack Price and the Seven Demons: Doc, the evil mad scientist presently using Jack for sex; Rex, an explosives expert who doesn’t ask too many questions so long as something goes boom; Volodya, a Ukrainian assassin who may or may not be a cannibal; Charlie, a comic book artist with computer skills and an anarchist bent; Lucille, whose specialty is razor-edged hugs; and Jack’s predecessor, Fred, who doesn’t contribute a whole lot owing to being a severed head on a stick. Finally there’s Jack himself, former coffee magnate turned cocaine dealer turned First Demon.

Great Fun!
Revisado: 10-02-24
It took me a little while to adjust to the character voices, and then had a ball. For me, the performance was what made the whole thing work. There is absurd silliness and some sounds and character interactions that can be a little grating, but, about when I'm feeling maxed out that, the narrator changes tone and some wonderful descriptions or development in character take place. Fun and satisfying.

Beware - Annoying Sound Effects
Revisado: 05-05-24
Fry is a superb performer. The sound effects are not needed. They add a sense of tackiness and distract from a good performance.

Historia
In 1885 Jane and Leland Stanford cofounded a university to honor their recently deceased young son. After her husband's death in 1893, Jane Stanford, a devoted spiritualist who expected the university to inculcate her values, steered Stanford into eccentricity and public controversy for more than a decade. In 1905 she was murdered in Hawaii, a victim, according to the Honolulu coroner's jury, of strychnine poisoning.

Who Cares
Revisado: 11-11-22
Never gives us a reason to care. Endless hours of wide ranging speculation ping-ponging all directions around the murder of an irresponsibly self-serving and abusive eccentric. She finally gets bumped off and everyone . . . EVERYONE and everything attached to her is the better for it. Forget about her and let the world move on to other business. In the end, there seems to be no reason to have bothered writing this book.

Historia
Public speaking can be terrifying. For David Nihill, the idea of standing in front of an audience was scarier than cliff jumping into a thorny pit of spiders and mothers-in-law. Without a parachute or advanced weaponry. Something had to change.
In what doesn't sound like the best plan ever, David decided to overcome his fears by pretending to be a comedian called "Irish Dave" for one full year, crashing as many comedy clubs, festivals, and shows as possible.

You NEED This Book
Revisado: 04-26-19
If you ever address any kind of group of people, you need this book. If you ever write anything, humorous or serious, that will be read by someone else (including emails), you need this book. If you ever try to tell a joke to ANYONE, oh God, you REALLY need this book!
Whether the information is humorous or serious, the info on the Rule of Three and the discussion of tightening and editing would be helpful to anyone who is wanting to communicate more effectively. In high school and college, I competed in speech events. I was a college speech teacher and competitive speech coach for almost 20 years. Don't let all the talk of standup comedy distract you from the actual practical takeaways in each chapter. The concepts and basic tactics in this book are useful to almost any kind of communication setting.
Mr. Nihill, thank you for helping me clearly understand how I was able to take one of the best situationally and audience focused visual punchlines I have ever had and tank it at last year's annual work party. in your book, I picked up 4 specific ways I could have made that thing work better. I will be buying several paper copies of this book to give to people I know who are serious about what they do.

An Incredible Disappointment

The description and cover art give the impression that you are buying an adventure/horror story. What you actually get is a shallow relentless political sermon that is bluntly written and artlessly presented.

Historia
A “fascinating psychological thriller” (Baltimore Sun), this entrancing novel introduces Isserley, a female driver who scouts the Scottish Highlands for male hitchhikers with big muscles. She herself is tiny - like a kid peering up over the steering wheel. Scarred and awkward, yet strangely erotic and threatening, Isserley listens to her passengers as they open up to her, revealing clues about who might miss them should they disappear - and then she strikes. What happens to her victims next is only part of a terrifying reality.
