Historia
When it comes to money, are you controlled by fear? Do you underestimate your worth? Are you ready to go to the next level, but can't seem to get there? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may be an underearner. Underearners are self-saboteurs who don't live up to their earnings potential, says Barbara Stanny, a financial educator, motivational speaker, and career counselor. The good news is that underearning is a self-imposed condition. By focusing on overcoming it, underearners will not only earn what they deserve, but live a richer life.

Book so useful, narration not so good
Revisado: 07-19-22
Barbara Stanny (Huson) has excellent exercises, stories and concepts that have helped me tremendously in shifting my money mindset. This is just the start.
The narration is distracting, wrong emphasis on wrong words for example. When I recommend this book, I suggest people get the best ok version to read and skip the narrator.

Historia
In White Fragility, Robin DiAngelo explained how racism is a system into which all White people are socialized and challenged the belief that racism is a simple matter of good people versus bad. DiAngelo also made a provocative claim: White progressives cause the most daily harm to people of color. In Nice Racism, her follow-up work, she explains how they do so. Drawing on her background as a sociologist and over 25 years working as an anti-racist educator, she picks up where White Fragility left off and moves the conversation forward.

Excellent learning
Revisado: 01-04-22
I liked hearing Robin DiAngelo reading her own work - straightforward, and even sharing personal examples of her own mistakes and repairs. I learned much about how I can continue to be aware of my own racism, even though it can be uncomfortable, and take action to change. I would highly recommend this book to any white body willing to learn and do better.

Historia
Humans are a varied and divergent bunch with all manner of beliefs, morals, and bodies. Systems of oppression thrive off our inability to make peace with difference and injure the relationship we have with our own bodies. The Body Is Not an Apology offers radical self-love as the balm to heal the wounds inflicted by these violent systems. World-renowned activist and poet Sonya Renee Taylor invites us to reconnect with the radical origins of our minds and bodies and celebrate our collective, enduring strength.

A Must-Read
Revisado: 09-15-21
I liked Sonya Renee Taylor’s voice straight-up opening my mind and heart. I have a lot to learn; am re-listening to the book immediately, to understand further the myriad ways in which I participate in, am immersed in, my own privilege, and the many ways I can continue to change that with awareness and action. Radical self-love + compassion.
PS: I LOVE the cover. Deeply beautiful.

Historia
In Good Morning, I Love You, Dr. Shauna Shapiro brings alive the brain science behind why we feel the way we do - about ourselves, each other, and the world - and explains why we get stuck in thinking that doesn’t serve us. It turns out that we are hardwired to be self-critical and negative! And this negativity is constantly undermining our experience of life.

The structure of the chapters with focus on specific takeaways was helpful. I appreciated learning more about the science supporting mindfulness, and for me the most helpful was the information on self-compassion and the personal and client stories Dr. Shapiro shared.

Historia
Even women who feel fulfilled often struggle to meet the demands of modern life. Both working and stay-at-home moms agree that the expectations of women have risen dramatically in recent decades. As a result, many women overcompensate and over-apologize while the guilt dampens the joy of motherhood, relationships, and professional accomplishments. Let Go of the Guilt helps you peel back the layers of emotional, cultural, and spiritual expectations that make it difficult to navigate your multiple roles, dreams, and daily demands on your life.
