Convoluted story with multiple twists and turns
Revisado: 04-04-25
I listened to this book because I liked another of the author’s books and the genre. However, this one ended up a bit bizarre. I thought it could have been shorter without some of the side plots - or the details of them. If you like a lot of detail, this is for you. The reader did a great job with the narration, since he also did women’s voices.

Faith based murder mystery
Revisado: 03-14-25
This book is good enough to want to hold on till the end - to find out who done it! However speaking as a clergy member myself I will say that the main character is represented as kind of naive. In this day and age he is making some commitments that the average clergy would not. That makes some of the scenes unbelievable. Otherwise it’s a great book.

Great character development
Revisado: 03-01-25
The development of the main characters and their families was great. At one point I even thought that every current female military member of color should listen to this to gain a perspective of history. However it was written as a fictional novel and it is difficult to ascertain whether it is actually that or true history. The ending was a bit disappointing.

Every leader functions on two stages - the front stage or public world, and the back stage or private world. One cannot lead successfully front stage when one is completely depleted back stage. In a time when pastors are leaving the ministry in record numbers due to cynicism, disillusionment, weariness, and personal scandals, there is an urgent need for soul care in the private lives of leaders. Replenish helps leaders focus on the back stage, the interior life, in order to remain spiritually healthy. In a caring, encouraging tone, it will show pastors how to prioritize.

Vital for every Christian Leader
Revisado: 02-25-25
I listened to this primarily while driving, as I usually do, not realizing there are insightful questions for reflection at the end of each chapter. Although I did stop the book on occasion to reflect, I found it hard to maintain the value of the content without writing my thoughts down. So I ordered the paper book and look forward to reviewing each of those questions with thoughtful soul searching and prayer - and putting the action steps into practice. While I am not a lead pastor, I do lead a team and much of this content has challenged me in many ways. If you are considering listening to the book be prepared. It is easy listening-but challenging only if you allow it to be.

Historia
We are constantly being formed by the world around us. To be formed by Jesus will require us to become his apprentice. To live by what the first Christian disciples called a Rule of Life—a set of practices and relational rhythms that slow us down and open up space in our daily lives for God to do what only God can do—transforms the deepest parts of us to become like him. This introduction to spiritual formation is full of John Mark Comer’s trademark mix of theological substance and cultural insight as well as practical wisdom on developing your own Rule of Life.

Historia
Through personal experience and countless conversations, speaker and Bible teacher Jennie Allen has come to realize that most of us need to unlearn some deeply damaging messages about our emotions. We've been taught, for example, that emotions are untrustworthy when, in fact, they are a gift from God to help us notice what is wrong and where we need to heal. Your emotions are not something to suppress or ignore. They are meant to be felt, examined, and shared.

Great partner to Get Out of Your Head
Revisado: 12-27-24
Although the reading seemed choppy and unlike her usual speaking style i was able to understand most of it. (Some of the words seemed to trail off at the end of the sentences but maybe that was me?…) the subject was based a lot on her personal experience as well as many others in her life, which is helpful. However I would have preferred more scriptural content which came more toward the end of the book. Of you start to listen and are put off at first hang in there, it pulls together in the last chapter.
Finally, FYI there are multiple publisher previews at the end of this book - which I could not easily stop and move on to another book while driving.

One of the best of the Evan series
Revisado: 11-15-24
Like the series there were many twists and turns in the story. I mistakenly listened to this last, although it is not the last of the books. I think I liked it the best - the very ending. The very short prologue plays a role in the plot, so pay attention to it!

It was a surprise with the segments of going back and forth. Sometimes the separation was missing - just another second’s pause would have helped to realize where we were in the story. But overall this was a good storyline-that requires much attention to all the details.

The Realness of her Life’s Story
Revisado: 09-06-24
Although I’m sure the author had to leave a lot out for the sake of the length of this book, she didn’t sugarcoat anything. This book isn’t a “tell all” story, but it does reveal that EE was a “real” person with weaknesses like the rest of us. This was a fascinating listen. About halfway through, I wasn’t sure o was going to make it, because of the length, but both the way it was told and narrated kept my attention. Two days after the completion I am still contemplating it all - especially the ending. Well done.
