LOVED!
Revisado: 01-30-22
I preordered this book and patiently waited for it to become available. It did not disappoint.
The narration was perfect and entertaining. I really enjoyed listening to this one and learning more about Naija culture. I hope that the characters are explored more in books to come by this author.

Summer’s looking forward to a break from hustling for acting work in Manhattan when she, her husband, Gabe, and Gabe’s nine-year-old son arrive at the annual family get-together at her in-laws’ sprawling estate. On the agenda are leisurely gourmet meals, tennis matches, and plenty of relaxation by the pool. But this year, Gabe’s brother, Nick, has invited his new flame Hannah, whom Summer immediately recognizes from a few years before. Oddly, her brother-in-law’s girlfriend claims not to know her.

Kate White is a solid storyteller. All of her suspense novels keep my interest and have unexpected twists.
I haven’t regret reading or listening to one of her books ever. This novel is a about a suspicious death at a family estate in Pennsylvania. If you enjoy domestic suspense novels, you’ll enjoy this one.

Anyone would kill to be one of them. But be careful what you wish for, because if you were a Saybrook, you’d be haunted by secrets and plagued by a dark streak of luck. PLL for Adults
Revisado: 03-12-20
🔀 Plot: This is very similar to the Pretty Little Liars series where someone has information about a group of connected people but no one knows who the person is. I grew up watching the TV show and reading the books so this was right up my alley. This story is basically about a group of cousins who all are heiresses of a family jewelry company. Everyone has their own issues and struggles they're dealing with. There a few unexplained deaths (you find out later what happened) and lots of twists / turns. I thought I knew what was happening, but I didn't until the end!
🎙Narration: I enjoyed listening to the narrator and it wasn't hard to distinguish the characters. I often will return a book if the narration isn't up to par.
📚Recommendation: I would definitely recommend this to PLL fans. If you enjoy reading / listening to stories about wealthy families, their secrets, and the lengths they'll go to keep those secrets, this is the book for you.
💭 Final Thought: There has to be a sequel because the ending was a total cliffhanger, and I need a follow up!

Interesting Twist
Revisado: 02-17-20
This is my first book by Sarah Pinborough, and I would read/listen to another!
Plot: This is a book about southerners who will go to different lengths to make everything appear so perfect. Underneath it all, it never is. The new black wife of a very wealth white widower sends shockwaves through their elite community.
Review: I enjoyed the book and didn’t expect the twist that came. I won’t give too much away, but I did think I knew who the culprit was. I hate figuring out a book so I was happy that my gut instinct was wrong. I love books that keep you guessing, and this one did just that.
Narration: The narration / performance was excellent. The switch of characters was seamless and I didn’t have trouble keeping up as there are quite a few.

Myron hasn't heard from Terese Collins in years. Not since their affair ended with no explanation. There had been no contact since, so her call catches him off guard. She's in Paris, she says, in trouble, and only Myron can help. She tells him a sad story she's never before revealed: a good marriage, her struggles to get pregnant, the happiest moment of her life when her only child was born, the day everything she'd ever loved was taken from her.

Best Audiobook In Awhile
Revisado: 02-07-20
I really enjoyed this audiobook! First one I’ve listened to in awhile and it was a great choice. I have some of his other books in my wishlist.
Author: All of Harlan Coben’s stories have twists and turns that keep you guessing until the very end. You think you have it figured out but you don’t. I highly recommend reading / listening to any of his works. You won’t be disappointed.
Narration: The narrator was excellent - with accents and switching over to other characters.
Plot: I won’t give too much away but this book starts off with Myron Bolitar getting a phone call from his ex girlfriend asking him to come to Paris as soon as possible. He ends up going without knowing what he’s in for, and the book takes off from there. His ex girlfriend received a similar phone call from her ex husband asking her to meet him in Paris prior to her call to Myron. Together they untangle a murder, lies, and eventually something bigger.

Meh. Save your Credit!
Revisado: 10-05-19
I had to stop listening so many times and finishing this audiobook was very hard to say the least. The characters were confusing until the 2nd half of the book because there were so many of them. I also got Ames and Artie confused multiple times, probably because it was such a hard listen. I agree with some of the other reviews stating that the narrator constantly mispronounced words and spoke in a southern accent at times but not the whole time - pick one or the other. I truly could have done without the southern accent. The narration of this book was probably my biggest peeve.
To be honest, you’re better off actually reading the physical book rather than listening to the audiobook. I think it was a decent story that I *wish* I read instead of listening to.
Advice: Save your credit and purchase a physical copy if you’re truly interested in this story.

This deliciously sharp novel captures the relentless ambitions and fears that animate parents and their children in modern America, exploring the conflicts between achievement and potential, talent and privilege. Set in the fictional town of Crystal, Colorado, The Gifted School is a keenly entertaining novel that observes the drama within a community of friends and parents as good intentions and high ambitions collide in a pile-up with long-held secrets and lies.

Relevant to what’s happening currently.
Revisado: 08-24-19
This book definitely reminds me of the college admissions scandal and is relevant to what’s happening today. It’s about how far people will go in order to get what they want for their children and who they (unintentionally) hurt in the process. Not to give away too much but the biggest surprise of the book was uncovered by one of the children and it was a twist I didn’t expect.
This book is different from what I’d usually go for, but it still kept my attention because the narrator did a great job. I wouldn’t call this book “suspenseful” whatsoever. If you’re looking for a suspense novel with big twists and turns or a fast paced read/listen, this isn’t it.

First Time Reading this Author
Revisado: 08-18-19
I enjoyed this book! It was my first time reading / listening to a book from this author and I’ll definitely check out more from her. The narration was excellent and easy to listen to. Plot: Imagine someone shows up unexpectedly at your best friend’s book club night and holds all the secrets of a past you’ve worked so hard to forget. What would you do? I could totally see this book becoming a movie!

Everyone has secrets, and Rachel Holloway is no exception. She’s worked hard to keep the past where it belongs: dead and buried. And so far, she’s been very successful. But now the small newspaper where she works wants to produce a podcast on a cold case: the disappearance 12 years ago of young Molly Forster. Some secrets should never see the light of day, and, as far as Rachel is concerned, whatever happened to little Molly is one of them.

Loved It.
Revisado: 07-04-19
I listen and read suspense/thriller novels frequently. This is the first premise / storyline is the first I’ve listened to of this kind. I listen to podcasts all the time so I was intrigued by the description and decided to give it a chance. I’m glad I did. While the main character was a bit frustrating at times, this book kept me interested until the very end. If you enjoy true crime podcasts, you'll probably enjoy this audiobook.
Great plot, would highly recommend. Narrator was easy to listen to and kept my attention.

This was totally unexpected. Very intriguing and far from your typical audio listen. The phone calls, voicemails, family, and star charts — I was hooked! A must listen.
