This book was a snore compared to other books written by Tana. Many of the characters were stereotypic and lacked nuance. The story line was poignant but didn’t bring that home for me.

I wanted to love it.

I was excited to read a book by Stacey Abrams especially because it covered something she knows A LOT about - the law, and something I know a bit about - biology. And the premise seemed excellent...... I mean what would happen if a Supreme Court Justice went into a vegetative state? Sadly for me, the story just didn't gel. The characters were predictable and stereotypic, the intrigue was predictable... It just didn't work for me and I found the narration irritating. The heroines voice was SO saccharine and women trying to voice masculine.... eh.... It would have been better if a guy had read the guy parts.

I enjoyed listening to this well researched piece. I forgot or never new that submarines were a new and awesome addition to Germanys WWI’s nautical weaponry. And the human side of this story, SO much like the Titanic. The personal letters, military documentation and extensive research…. All this added to the books tragic credibility.
I found the narrator to be quite acceptable.

Overall, this was ok and might have been pretty darn good if the author hadn’t tried to build more into the backstory than necessary. The adoption angle was distracting and totally unnecessary.

Wow…. I’ve could only last 1.5 hrs and I usually find Koontz books at least ok and at best really engaging. This is the worst…. So stereotypic…. Handsome rich white man must save beautiful blonde. She gazed into his eyes… doesn’t know why she felels this way…. All the cliches are painfully there. Maybe it gets better but I doubt it. I hope I can exchange this.
