Historia
Olivia McAfee knows what it feels like to start over. Her picture-perfect life—living in Boston, married to a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon, raising their beautiful son, Asher—was upended when her husband revealed a darker side. She never imagined that she would end up back in her sleepy New Hampshire hometown, living in the house she grew up in and taking over her father’s beekeeping business. Lily Campanello is familiar with do-overs, too. When she and her mom relocate to Adams, New Hampshire, for her final year of high school, they both hope it will be a fresh start.

I started for the mystery, but I stayed because I cared SO MUCH about the characters!
Revisado: 07-24-24
Every character felt so full and real. I felt like a resident of Adams, NH myself.
And Lily....just....as someone who identifies with her, I only cried a few times. I felt so *seen*.
Thank you both for writing this story. The world is better for it.

The Overlords appeared suddenly over every city - intellectually, technologically, and militarily superior to humankind. Benevolent, they made few demands: unify earth, eliminate poverty, and end war. With little rebellion, humankind agreed, and a golden age began.

This novel broke me
Revisado: 07-29-21
Arthur C Clarke has a way of shaping a world in so few words. He doesn't need expansive or grandiose descriptions to present scenes or characters. I don't know how he does it, but he pulls you into the world with its people and keeps you there. Childhood's End pulled me in, and it broke me inside and out. I could barely function for the days after finishing this novel for the effect its conclusion had on me; I felt hollowed out and raw. I rate that a positive, however, because the best stories leave you with some kind of effect, whether full of joy or heartache.

Great having Dresden back but wish it wasn't split
Revisado: 07-25-20
Wish the book wasn't split in two but otherwise hella glad Dresden is back. Rust got shaken off early and we're back at it.
