Historia
He stands between two worlds, a savior and a destroyer to both. Dragons and aegres will fall. But one can turn the tide. One who stands in the shadow of kings. Such has been seen by the doomed. The weight of ten thousand lives and all the realm besides now sits on Joran's shoulders. So much has already been sacrificed to bring him to the ancient doors of Drakanan, where he might take on the mantle of Dragon Rider and usher in a new age of heroes. But a time of dragons is not all that has been seen…

Great narration by Brand, but not enough to save the drudgery of this story
Revisado: 12-04-24
This is one of the biggest disappointments I’ve had with a book series. I thoroughly enjoyed the previous books. The last book was starting to feel a bit slow, but it was still very good. This book, except for the last three chapters, was a real struggle to get through. It read like tedious, mundane journal entries. For the majority of the book, nothing much happened to advance the story. The ending was fantastic and will probably be enough to make readers forget about how difficult it was to get there. However, despite being a great ending, it was not enough to overcome how monotonous the rest of the book was. I’m going to read the next book because I’m too far in and invested in the series. But I won’t be excited about it.

My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me. So begins a tale told from his own point of view - a story unequaled in fantasy literature. Now in The Wise Man’s Fear, Day Two of The Kingkiller Chronicle, Kvothe takes his first steps on the path of the hero and learns how difficult life can be when a man becomes a legend in his own time.

Historia
Our ability to prevent and reverse these conditions—and feel incredible today—is under our control and simpler than we think. The key is our metabolic function—the most important and least understood factor in our overall health. As Dr. Casey Means explains in this book, nearly every health problem we face can be explained by how well the cells in our body create and use energy. To live free from frustrating symptoms and life-threatening disease, we need our cells to be optimally powered so that they can create “good energy,” the essential fuel that impacts every aspect of our wellbeing.

Great information and easily understandable
Revisado: 05-22-24
This book is full of fantastic information and delivered in such a way that most if not everyone can easily understand, or at least get the big picture items. The content in this book made me reevaluate areas of my lifestyle that I thought were good and reconsider how good in this context should be defined.

The last 1/3 was great.
Revisado: 05-28-23
The last of this book was really great and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the first 2/3 are a slugfest. I understand it’s the author was trying to do something relatively clever by jumping two different periods of time in the story. I think it would’ve worked well if it was either for a much shorter, duration, or revealing the numerous ambiguities in the beginning, would have occurred more gradually through out, rather than just basically all at once, after chapter 40. Just too much of a chore to get to the big reveal.

Mankind has lorded over the land of Illian for a thousand years, building on the ruins left by the elves, as if it were their birthright. A thousand years is a long time for an immortal race to see the truth of things, a truth that has remained unsaid for a millennium - elves are superior. They are faster, stronger, and connected to the magical realm in a way that man could never grasp. Illian should belong to them.

Historia
The folks in Mike Erikson's small New England town would say he's just your average, everyday guy. And that's exactly how Mike likes it. Sure, the life he's chosen isn't much of a challenge to someone with his unique gifts, but he's content with his quiet and peaceful existence. That is, until an old friend presents him with an irresistible mystery, one that Mike is uniquely qualified to solve.

On the day that the Supreme Court passes the first of these laws, 29-year-old Owen Gray joins the ranks of a new persecuted underclass known as "amps." Owen is forced to go on the run, desperate to reach an outpost in Oklahoma where, it is rumored, a group of the most enhanced amps may be about to change the world - or destroy it.
