Historia
A true collective account of President John F. Kennedy's assassination. There are few days in American history so immortalized in public memory as November 22, 1963, the date of President John F. Kennedy's assassination. Adding to the wealth of information about this tragic day is We Were There, a truly unique collection of firsthand accounts from the doctors and staff on scene at the hospital where JFK was immediately taken after he was shot.

Nothing new here, unfortunately.
Revisado: 02-02-25
Author made a great effort to make the statements of the Parkland doctors support the discredited Warren Commission report. All the emotional responses and details did nothing to enlighten nor to support what comes across as the underlying thesis here. As with most of the ‘research’ done in the name of government agencies, and much of the research that purports to build new cases, the foundation here is still the same old unproven ground: Oswald fired from the TSBD and later shot JD Tippet. In this book there is mention of the DPD paraffin test which casts doubt on Oswald firing a rifle, but no further inspection of the information. In all, a lot of detail here, and well presented, but not making any revelations of note.

The overwhelming emotionality of the protagonist.
Revisado: 03-26-24
This is a decent story, with well developed characters and a somewhat convoluted story line. The narrator did good work with voicings. What detracts is the character of the main character. Can you suspend reality enough to believe that an adult male law enforcement officer with career experience at the federal level can be primarily driven by his fragile emotions? Sorry—I can’t.

Historia
A year has passed since LAPD detective Renée Ballard quit the force in the face of misogyny, demoralization, and endless red tape. But after the chief of police himself tells her she can write her own ticket within the department, Ballard takes back her badge, leaving “the Late Show” to rebuild and lead the cold case unit at the elite Robbery-Homicide Division.

Great closure to a favorite series.
Revisado: 02-25-24
Combining several characters of the ‘Connelly cast’ is a no-fail scenario. Having Titus Welliver narrate Bosch parts is the cherry on top for those of us who discovered and enjoying the Bosch mini series before beginning the deep dive into all of the books.
There was discernible slowing in some of the female narration, which led to an attempt to bump playback rate. That only made Welliver’s parts sound ridiculous. Also, there’s no need for a woman to attempt to emulate a male voice in narration. It sounds as fake as if Welliver mimicked a female portion of dialogue.
In all, this was one of Connelly’s strongest pieces of work in my opinion. He wove Bosch history into the story from nearly the beginning to nearly the end of Bosch. It felt like goodbye, but on terms we can accept as readers and fans. A great story.

Historia
For maverick LAPD homicide detective Harry Bosch, the body in the drainpipe at Mulholland Dam is more than another anonymous statistic. This one is personal...because the murdered man was a fellow Vietnam "tunnel rat" who had fought side by side with him in a hellish underground war. Now Bosch is about to relive the horror of Nam. From a dangerous maze of blind alleys to a daring criminal heist beneath the city, his survival instincts will once again be tested to their limit.

Interesting, to say the least, if the Bosch series has already been seen.
Revisado: 02-24-24
I was enjoying listening to Titus Welliver’s narration, which adds a note of authenticity for those of us who re-binge the Bosch series now and then. Suddenly he mimicked Lance Riddick Jr. so accurately that I looked for additional narrator credits. Just one of many surprises.
If the temporal translocation of Bosch in book from Vietnam tunnel rat to Bosch on TV as Afghanistan Special Forces veteran isn’t hard enough, imagine the screenwriters brainstorming ways to convert Eleanor Wish from FBI agent to poker pro for the miniseries. It is an enormous challenge to move a book set in the 80’s to a show set 30-40 years later and reverting from contemporary to retro is also a serious challenge.
Picking the pieces of ‘current Bosch’ out of the text in this audiobook kept me busy rewinding and giving extra attention to many segments. I enjoyed all but his chainsmoking tobacco addiction and am happy the contemporary Bosch at least puts up a token fight against it. In all, it’s a great listen.

Historia
Detective Harry Bosch has retired from the LAPD, but his half-brother, defense attorney Mickey Haller, needs his help. The murder rap against his client seems ironclad, but Mickey is sure it's a setup. Though it goes against all his instincts, Bosch takes the case. With the secret help of his former LAPD partner, Lucia Soto, he turns the investigation inside the police department. But as Bosch gets closer to discovering the truth, he makes himself a target.

Bosch is worth saving, maybe. The rest of the cast, not so much.
Revisado: 02-16-24
Not even halfway through, and already too much Madeleine. The Bosch series on Prime Video was afflicted by this irritating, unattractive character to an incredible degree by its end. Incredible that an author would poison his primary character list in this way. Madeleine got the worst traits of both parents, yet gains more text and coverage as the books and videos continue. Why is that?
Mickey Haller is among the most emotive males ever written. Sometimes Bosch reaches the same levels. It’s unattractive/alienating. Intellect and experience/expertise notwithstanding, the two characters take two steps forward and three steps back with their colleagues and readers like me by repeatedly allowing their emotions to take control and subvert their positive characteristics.
Again: Why?
