Historia
It's June in Montreal, and Dr. Temperance Brennan, who has left a shaky marriage back home in North Carolina to take on the challenging assignment of Director of Forensic Anthropology for the province of Quebec, looks forward to a relaxing weekend in beautiful Quebec City. First, though, she must stop at a newly uncovered burial site in the heart of the city. The remains are probably old and only of archeological interest, but Tempe must make sure they're not a case for the police. One look at the decomposed and decapitated corpse, stored neatly in plastic bags, tells her she'll spend the weekend in the crime lab.

I read this book as a kid and decided to re read. It's very juvenile and I did not enjoy it as an adult. I stopped less than half way through.

Historia
In 2014, Theranos founder and CEO Elizabeth Holmes was widely seen as the next Steve Jobs: a brilliant Stanford dropout whose startup “unicorn” promised to revolutionize the medical industry with its breakthrough device, which performed the whole range of laboratory tests from a single drop of blood. Backed by investors such as Larry Ellison and Tim Draper, Theranos sold shares in a fundraising round that valued the company at more than $9 billion, putting Holmes’s worth at an estimated $4.5 billion.

Historia
Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

Any additional comments?
I can get through a lot of books on audio I would put down in paper, but I didn't make it far on this one. Maybe it was just a slow start, but too slow for me.

Historia
Seabiscuit was one of the most electrifying and popular attractions in sports history and the single biggest newsmaker in the world in 1938, receiving more coverage than FDR, Hitler, or Mussolini. But his success was a surprise to the racing establishment, which had written off the crooked-legged racehorse with the sad tail.

Great story!
Revisado: 12-22-16
What did you love best about Seabiscuit?
Hard to say - the beginning was a little slow and wandered a bit. Seemed like more of an education for the reader of horse racing life. Once past that part it got pretty good.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Seabiscuit?
When the trainer makes the connection to the horse and completely turns him around.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
YES!

Historia
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

The main character was an unbelievable hot mess, but as the story progresses you see why it was important to detail this out.

Historia
No one knows exactly when it began or where it originated. A terrifying new plague is spreading like wildfire across the country, striking cities one by one: Boston, Detroit, Seattle. The doctors call it Draco Incendia Trychophyton. To everyone else it's Dragonscale, a highly contagious, deadly spore that marks its hosts with beautiful black and gold marks across their bodies - before causing them to burst into flames. Millions are infected; blazes erupt everywhere. There is no antidote. No one is safe.

Disappointing
Revisado: 12-22-16
What disappointed you about The Fireman?
I appreciate a novelist creating a strong female heroine, especially when parts of the story read like an action hero story. But an 9 month pregnant action hero that does not ever go into labor? Running, jumping, explosions, walking dozens of miles? Come on - worse than Mission Impossible.
Additionally, multiple story types were used at the same time, and it just did not work. Science fiction, fantasy adventure, action, post apocalypse, etc. Too much all at once.
The never die bad guys were Terminator style.
Would you ever listen to anything by Joe Hill again?
Wont be rushing into it. This was my second read from him - the first was a completely shameful ripoff from his father, including setting, characters, and references to many King books and characters. I was hoping it was a fluke, but there were a few in this book as well, not to mention terrible writing, way too many words, and poor character development.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I have listened to one other book with Kate Mulgrew as a narrator. I am a fan of her acting but not as a narrator. She doesn't do voices well, and her inflections are poor. It was hard to get through.
What character would you cut from The Fireman?
Many characters could have been cut.

Educational, Interesting, Fascinating, Frightening
Revisado: 12-22-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I have talked to dozens of people about this book while I was reading it and since I have completed it. It is absolutely incredible what is happening right under our noses, right next door - to our children and their friends. A must read for every American.
What did you like best about this story?
Incredible amount of research, endless facts, personal stories.
Have you listened to any of Neil Hellegers’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
no
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It was horrifying, fascinating, and so incredibly sad. There were several parts where I was definitely tearing up, and I'm not a crier.
Any additional comments?
Every single American needs to read this book, especially if you have kids or grand kids. This is happening in your town, on your street, to someone you know. Knowledge is power, and our best weapon to stop this epidemic.

Historia
Based in part on Dickens's own life, it is the story of a young man's journey from an unhappy and impoverished childhood to the discovery of his vocation as a successful novelist. Among its gloriously vivid cast of characters, he e.ncounters his tyrannical stepfather, Mr. Murdstone; his formidable aunt, Betsey Trotwood; the eternally humble yet treacherous Uriah Heep; the frivolous, enchanting Dora; and one of literature's great comic creations, the magnificently impecunious Mr. Micawber.
