Historia
In writing Leaves of Grass, Whitman succeeded in his ambition: to create something uniquely American. His poems have been woven into the very fabric of the American character. From his solemn dirges "When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd" and "O Captain! My Captain!" to the joyous freedom of "Song of Myself," "I Sing the Body Electric," and "Song of the Open Road," Leaves of Grass lives on, providing inspiration to the people and poets of generations to come.

Not brilliant

I loved the reduced Shakespere stage show but this one is just silly. May have been good on stage but does not translate well to Audio...?

Historia
In The Brothers Karamazov, Dostoevsky explores human nature at its most loathsome and cruel but never flinches at what he finds. The novel tells the stirring tale of four brothers: the pleasure-seeking, impatient Dmitri; the brilliant and morose Ivan; the gentle, loving, and honest Alyosha; and the illegitimate Smerdyakov, shy, silent, and cruel. They are behind the murder of one of literature's most despicable characters: their father. This was Dostoevsky's final and perhaps his finest work.

Amazing novel AND well read
Revisado: 06-06-05
The narrator is very important, but I disagree with other reviewers - this guy's not amazing but he is good and does not at all warrent not buying this book.
He has an englishy voice which seems appropriate and gives different voices to the characters. The only problem is that they are not always completely distinct. For instance, I get the disreputable father and the saintly elder priest mixed up and you can image the plot confusion that can cause.... And all his female voices sound pretty much the same.
Some reviewers have said that he reads without understanding - but I disagree. He reads with sound understanding and good inflection.
The book is amazing. Don't deprive yourself.

Historia
In fiction, the spy is a glamorous figure whose secrets make or break peace, but, historically, has intelligence really been a vital step to military victories? In this breakthrough study, the preeminent war historian John Keegan goes to the heart of a series of important conflicts to develop a powerful argument about military intelligence. In his characteristically wry and perceptive prose, Keegan offers us nothing short of a new history of war through the prism of intelligence.

He using specific times in history to show the how intelligence impacted decisions. He shows how, in many cases, the impact of intelligence is overrated and that battle are won in the field.

In terms of content, this is a great buy. Interesting and well told stories, and the narrator is fine.
However, there are many many repeated sections and this is annoying and distracting.

Interesting marred by poor narration

This is a worthwhile subscription. The only problem is that that the narrator is difficult to understand. He runs sentences together so that meaning is confused and is kind of annoying to listen to.

Poor
Revisado: 07-21-04
Not a great selection and some weird choices like a reading of the battle hymn of the republic...
Poor QC - poems are missing lines (E.g. to Virgins to make much of time).
Some readers are not really aware of what they are reading.
If you already like poetry, this will just annoy you. If you don't and are hoping to learn, look elsewhere
