Great story, terrible narration
Revisado: 02-23-25
Bring back Scott Brick and have him redo this awful performance. The fake over the top “voices” are so difficult to listen to you can actually miss parts of the story while your eyes roll. The story is typical Cussler/Pitt - a love interest, a far fetched storyline, lots of last minute saves by Giordino and others. If only someone else had read it!

Historia
An off-duty Coast Guardsman is fishing with his family when he calls in some suspicious behavior from a nearby boat. It's a snazzy craft, slick and outfitted with extra horsepower, and is zipping along until it slows to pick up a surfaced diver...a diver who was apparently alone, without his own boat, in the middle of the ocean. None of it makes sense unless there's something hinky going on, and his hunch is proved right when all three Guardsmen who come out to investigate are shot and killed.

Decent story, will likely read the rest of the series
Revisado: 08-23-23
The story was interesting and entertaining, no holes or problems. Perhaps a few to many characters to keep track of. My only real issue was the almost comic book narration, some of the voices were elementary school play quality and made it hard to keep listening to at points. Could be me but I’ll avoid this narrator in the future.

Historia
Jason King and Will Slater, the two most lethal operatives in government history, are out on their own. They’ve been through their personal journeys into hell, but they unite in New York City as brothers in arms. So begins a vigilante crusade against the city’s morally bankrupt inhabitants. But their private war doesn’t last long. Sometimes you can’t escape the past, no matter how hard you try. They’re revisited by old government contacts with an agenda, and soon enough they’re fighting tooth and nail to prevent the destabilization of the entire country.

Mildly entertaining, incredibly slow
Revisado: 04-26-23
All of the characters blend together with the same repeated accents, the story is slow and repetitive, and there are enough technical mistakes to frustrate a listener with any weapons experience at all (how can an author expect a listener to think they have weapon experience when they repeatedly refer to magazines as clips?). The lead characters get in ridiculous fights every single chapter and never get injured or need to recover. I finished the book only because I was on a road trip and it was already downloaded.

Another great story!
Revisado: 01-29-23
Weaving several exciting plots, locations, and even 30 years across multiple locations all in vivid detail creates yet another Jack Ryan classic. Lou Diamond Phillips is a master voice actor, all of the characters and accents stand out this time as individuals making this perfect to listen to!

Historia
Jack Ryan has only just moved back into the Oval Office when he is faced with a new international threat. An aborted coup in the People's Republic of China has left President Wei Zhen Lin with no choice but to agree with the expansionist policies of General Su Ke Quiang. They have declared the South China Sea a protectorate and are planning an invasion of Taiwan. The Ryan administration is determined to thwart China’s ambitions, but the stakes are dangerously high as a new breed of powerful Chinese anti-ship missiles endanger the US Navy's plans to protect the island.

Great story with attention to detail
Revisado: 01-12-23
Lou Diamond Phillips does a great job and is very entertaining. Occasionally tries a little too hard to give characters different voices but I enjoy him as a reader.
The content is just like many other Jack Ryan books, if you tend to like them you will like this one as well.
