Review continued. Just finished the second book. She's really unlikable. What's with her being so angry at Gareth? He's told her what and why he has a connection to the trackers but she gets ridiculously angry and explosive. He's on her side and admittedly always has been before he even met her! How is he a conceited narcissist?! What has he done other than be himself and a nice guy no less. He's literally done nothing wrong. Those are all reasons why she's completely obnoxious and stuck up. I'll need to take a hard pass on the next books, maybe I'll like Savannahs books if hers are out, she seems cool. This book is so repetitive and goes absolutely no where, it's like the first all over again.

It's frustrating when the main characters doth protest too much but obviously want one thing and do another -when a good guy is available and interested. She can't or won't pick her battles and acts stubborn to the very last to the point of irritating. She's snarky 100% of the time there is no other mode of her personality. It's grating. The story is great and other characters are great but the main character pushes everyone away so there's not much interaction going on there. I find I tune her out because some of her snark is redundant, but most of her reactions and conversations have it. She goes off on her own and could have allies but again, pushes them away to go out on her own and inevitably get her ass kicked since she's flying solo. I'm mid book 2 , most of both books have been repeating story building facts about her world and circumstances to justify her status as single and prickly which is the rest of the time all while trying to save supernaturals, yes that's important but she doesn't stop to think 🤔 I could be dead any day now, maybe living is important. She's been hiding her whole life and is magically weak when she should have been cultivating all her defenses to stay alive. Now that she needs her powers she doesn't know how to use them to the full extent. It's hard to understand and difficult to digest. Getting all invested in the story and having the main character be unlikable is rough!

I had been freaking loving this book.. like sad it would end type of love... then we come to the part where she drinks serial killer rufee wine. Um... (mind blown) who drinks unattended anything a stranger pours? Then she quite literally knows he's a serial killer on top of that.. and he clearly WANTS her to drink the wine and no body is holding a gun to her head... like.. is anyone home? I need a break I don't know if I can go on.

I love this idea, she has such potential but no balance. I love the monsters. I hate that we are stuck in her head allll the time. The first book it's her damn nipples that are getting twisted in her memory at least once or twice a chapter. The pucker of the damn things on her flat chest as it's being crushed to the cement by her tormentors. She IS a victim, constantly. I understand your mind playing bad memories on a reel, but I have my own, I'm trying to read a book and understand a plot and figure out where it's going, I don't want to repeat and repeat and repeat the same things over and over and over for her. I want her to learn from that experience, and constantly be prepared for betrayal around every corner, I want her to protect herself and not have a bloody death wish. I want her to not NEED a man to protect her, she's comes off as a strong women in the first scene of the book. Then, she goes steadily downhill from there, she doesn't carry a weapon, she doesn't know basic self defense. She doesn't appear to have any iota of suspicion that her life is in constant danger. She is surprised, comically so, whenever she's attacked! Then, she goes into another spiral, the memories of the attack, the alley, the twisted nipple, the helplessness..the victim. Then, she bounces back and I'm like GREAT she's gonna give them hell like her dad wants! But no, I'm on book 2. She walks into a very predictable ambush and gets her body guard killed while she stands there like a deer in head lights! Then she gets killed, which with her track record was inevitable. It's all about her damn company, then why the hell is she never working!? Why is she allowing all of it and watching helpless while she's supposed to be this powerful person. I'm so confused and exhausted listening to it.

There is a very weak storyline. Gem is an airhead. She's all sorts of in love with her intended mate but has literally only met him once in her life and run under the moon, which had her head over heels. They don't speak again until she shows up years later to be his bride, and she is influenced by the town hussy and others into thinking he chose another, then without actually speaking to him she confronts him in front of his whole crew of males and has him admit he's not mating with her for the next two moons. Ryker isn't any better in the communication department either, apparently. A match made in heaven! She flips out and runs off into the city to start a life as a lone wolf, but only makes it to the border of the city before she's set upon by vampires. Alex is instantly infatuated for unknown reasons and breaks off his fangs for her, she unwittingly accepts them not knowing what it means. He's claimed her as his mate even though she's clearly not interested. In the meantime, Ryker her true mate, is going crazy with moon fever whilst trying to find her since she disappeared off his radar the minute she put the vamps homemade tooth necklace on. Gem is so butt hurt from their last conversation-less interaction, that despite how much she wants to be with him she pushes him away repeatedly, and we begin this crazy back and forth. I'm so confused myself, I'm writing this review. She tells him no, then sleeps with him, tells him no again, then gets upset he won't mate with her when she keeps telling him no. They have yet to actually discuss each other's lives and what happened years ago because Gem is so emotional she doesn't listen to anything he says. She realizes she's being manipulated by the vampire only because someone has to tell her, she can't figure it out on her own. Then she goes to find him on the full moon to "talk" finally and somehow the freaking tooth ends up in her pocket because she can't seem to put it somewhere off her person, so she can't find him. She puts all puzzle pieces together extremely slowly 🦥 🤣. The narrator speaks slowly and enunciates so clearly it makes her inner dialogue sound like a simpleton. Then she is misled by a member of the pack she was in for two minutes, to drink a sedative. At which point I was laughing out loud saying, "don't drink the drugs!" Yet she's thirsty and wants to be polite because she was raised with manners not thinking power or instincts 🤷 She shed her Omega persona to be someone else but then suddenly she's acting like one again? She needs to make up her mind already on what she wants and who she wants to be. #lifegoals and all that. At one point she desperately wants Ryker, yet she has yet to fight for him at all. Not an alpha through and through apparently. My head is spinning. Not sure how this will end yet. This is cray cray 😜

I've decided to stop listening to this due to the characters treatment of a mentally impaired boy. She's nothing special in a person. Nothing to admire at all. Usually there's some sort of integrity or strength that draws me in. The man's voice is great but the womans voice is weird, not sure why she's whispering all the time.

I can relate with her only so far as she tries to be a good person. That is where it ends. I can understand her needing support after her parents were taken, and being lonely. I suspect that's why she's a pushover with the people in her home. Shauna is obnoxious, selfish, simple minded, and just garbage. I can't stand her. It clearly says this in the book, but seriously, please let her get caught in a bug zapper. Now, another point of contention is Paige's treatment of Nico, she's just plain mean, not cool. Her life would be so much more interesting with him in it. Team Nico. Finished book 2, she needs to rethink her choice in men in general, wow. Entertaining stuff however, liked Lizzie's happy ending.

I'd skip the audible on this one. No offense intended but the narrative sounds like the result of a looney toon mating with a tasmanian devil. Love these books tho 😊

She's annoying and bitchy and an ignorant racist. I was disappointed bc I'm in love with the succubus series. The audible voice sounds like a creeper during the romantic/steamy moments. I could not possibly continue this series without being stressed out listening to her over think everything.
