Thirty-three-year-old game designer Dex Walsh spends an entire year devoured by sorrow after the death of his wife. As a last-ditch effort to regain his joy, he sells everything and joins Overtaken Online. Expecting to spawn in a noob-friendly area with guidance from his personal assistant, he instead finds himself naked and alone in a dark prison cell rapidly filling with gas. Under-leveled and not knowing how to escape, he has no idea how far he will be able to progress as long as he pushes forward and doesn't give up.

Luke Tavares has dreamed of joining the vast gaming guilds of the hypernet. After recently graduating high school, his parents have given him the same ultimatum as his siblings; he has one month to get a job to pay for his air, gravity, and water aboard the Dahlia. The freighter needs more hands, but Luke doesn’t want to be a trader-ship engineer. In Sphere World, he can mine asteroids, build bots, and make weapons to fuel the system-wide war between nodes.

Historia
Thomas Covenant is a leper, a bitter and solitary pariah who is mystically transported to another Earth where time moves differently than ours, one in which magic takes many forms. The Land is threatened by many evils, the most immediate of which is a maddened Cavewight whose subterranean excavations have unearthed the ancient and puissant Staff of Law. More dangerous to the free people of the Land is the Gray Slayer, Lord Foul, the Despiser, who intends to destroy the actual foundations of the Earth that he might wage war against the universe’s creator.

wtf?!?!
Revisado: 06-03-21
this book is very slow. you start off feeling sorry and proud of the main character and then he turns into a monster. he rapes and hits a 16 year old and justifies it by thinking the world he is in is fake? what was the author thinking? I did listen a couple hours after that but it is still slow and the main character is just a coward and monster. I honestly don't care if at some point he turns into someone you can actually like; the author made a bad bad bad choice. narrator did a great job though. sorry you had to read an horrible book.

Eh
Revisado: 09-17-20
the narrator has this stutter type of talking. Every Character has a super high class type of speach. Its hard to explain but it gets annoying. Also there are different races in this book but there is NO explanation about them. Just all of a sudden you are hearing small details as if you knew about them all along. Goes for places, kingdoms, everything has no explanation. Just written like you know everything about everything. Im very surprised because Hamilton is one of my favorite authors and i have to admit this was poorly written. The worst part of this book is when the main character has a dream there is a echo affect that is so horribly annoying. I stopped listening after the 4th time it happened. I just couldn't keep going.

good story. the narrator is amazing. only thing I didn't like is every book just ends. each ending doesnt have that feel like you know its ending and your hoping for as much closure and answers to questions you have devolped and hoping it answers as many and obviously creates more for the next book; but it doesnt. just ends.

narrator bad
Revisado: 03-09-19
The book seems good but the narrator just reads sooooo fast. literally entire paragraphs are one long sentence. most of the time i dont know which characters are talking. he just goes on and on with no breaks. then he slows way down at the weirdest times then speeds right back up. i finished the first two books but each book he seems to go faster and faster and by the third book it gets unbearable. 30min into the third book and i cant stand it anymore. i do not recommend this book because of the narrator.

Great story and amazing narrators! I was a bit surprised about how detailed the sex "scenes" were; definitely not books for kids. I highly suggest this series.

Historia
The small island of Malaz and its city gave the great empire its name, but now it is little more than a sleepy, backwater port. Tonight, however, things are different. Tonight the city is on edge, a hive of hurried, sometimes violent activity; its citizens bustle about, barring doors, shuttering windows, avoiding any stranger's stare. Because tonight there is to be a convergence, the once-in-a-generation appearance of a Shadow Moon - an occasion that threatens the good people of Malaz with demon hounds and other, darker things....

This is the second time ive listened to this book and ive gone half way through the second book for the second time as well and i have no idea what is going on. you get thrown in with no explanations. and there is no explanations throughout the books. your just hearing what is going on as if the author expects you to know who, what, why. the second book is even worse. you get thrown between so many people that you have NO clue what is going on. maybe later in the series everything comes together but i cant keep listening to books that make no sense.

The return of the mercenary company, the Crimson Guard, could not have come at a worse time for a Malazan Empire exhausted by warfare and weakened by betrayals and rivalries. Indeed, there are those who wonder whether the Empress Laseen might not be losing her grip on power as she faces increasing unrest as conquered kingdoms and principalities sense freedom once more.
