Historia
Pontzer's groundbreaking studies with hunter-gatherer tribes show how exercise doesn't increase our metabolism. Instead, we burn calories within a very narrow range: nearly 3,000 calories per day, no matter our activity level. This was a brilliant evolutionary strategy to survive in times of famine. Now it seems to doom us to obesity. The good news is we can lose weight, but we need to cut calories. Refuting such weight-loss hype as paleo, keto, anti-gluten, anti-grain, and even vegan, Pontzer discusses how all diets succeed or fail: For shedding pounds, a calorie is a calorie.

Historia
It originated in Asia, moved to Europe, and is now consumed worldwide — a slightly-fermented tea that is purported to cure everything from indigestion to cancer. We’re talking about kombucha, which has exploded in popularity in the last quarter century. While the exact health benefits of kombucha remain unproven, it’s quite certain that the effervescent elixir provides its worldwide fans with a spiritual lift unlike any other drink.

A great intro to Kombucha culture
Revisado: 01-11-24
I didn't know much about kombucha so for me this book was a kind of an introduction to this culture. I was looking for a piece of information about the drink but this book also reveals a community of kombucha enthusiasts.
Cons: it's closer to memoirs

Best book about B2B sales process
Revisado: 09-10-23
I wish I had read this book when I started my sales career. Unfortunately, most business courses are focused on marketing and general management, few describe a sales process and explain it.
Mike explains a full sales process and its most critical stages. I can recommend this book for both rookie sales representatives and seasoned sales managers.

Historia
Since the release of Doug Stephens’ first book, The Retail Revival, change in the global retail sector has accelerated beyond even the boldest forecasts. As predicted, online giants like Amazon and Alibaba.com are growing at a dizzying pace. Hundreds of well-known brick-and-mortar retailers have closed their doors, and brands and retailers across categories are struggling to understand the shifting needs and expectations of a new consumer.

Very interesting retrospective analysis of retail industry envisioning of its future, however there is some overestimation of high-tech.

Historia
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Awful sound
Revisado: 08-12-21
The book is great but the sound quality is very poor - it's really hard to hear some words as a microphone captured all surrounding noise.

You won't find in this book deep dive on neurophysiology aspects of focus. Instead you will find a lot of practical action items. I found it very useful.

Historia
One of the most complicated and advanced computers on Earth can't be purchased in any store. This astonishing device, responsible for storing and retrieving vast quantities of information that can be accessed at a moment's notice, is the human brain. How does such a dynamic and powerful machine make memories, learn a language, and remember how to drive a car? What habits can we adopt in order to learn more effectively throughout our lives? The answers to these questions are merely the tip of the iceberg in The Learning Brain.

You definitely know a lot of things about learning. Chances are high that some of them are wrong. Also highly likely you are not aware of recent neuroscience researchs.
This course is here to help you significantly improve your learning performance across almost all activities and subjects.
