Historia
An award-winning historian and author, Paul Hendrickson here turns his attention to one of America’s most cherished literary icons, Ernest Hemingway. Drawing on previously unpublished material, Hendrickson focuses on Hemingway’s life in its twilight, just prior to his suicide, and the seemingly singular constant in the man’s life: his boat, Pilar. On this vessel, Hemingway would entertain and travel, but it would also be the scene of some of his greatest tragedies.

Historia
Most people know Andrew McCarthy from his movie roles in Pretty in Pink, St. Elmo's Fire, Weekend at Bernie's, and Less Than Zero, and as a charter member of Hollywood's Brat Pack. That iconic group of ingenues and heartthrobs has come to represent both a genre of film and an era of pop culture. In his memoir, McCarthy focuses his gaze on that singular moment in time. The result is a revealing look at coming of age in a maelstrom, reckoning with conflicted ambition, innocence, addiction, and masculinity.

Historia
Frank Lloyd Wright has long been known as a rank egotist who held in contempt almost everything aside from his own genius. Harder to detect, but no less real, is a Wright who fully understood, and suffered from, the choices he made. This is the Wright whom Paul Hendrickson reveals in this masterful biography: the Wright who was haunted by his father, about whom he told the greatest lie of his life.

Historia
Kendall Taylor examines the dalliance between the southern belle and the French pilot from a fresh perspective. Drawing on conversations and correspondence with Jozan's daughter, as well as materials from the Jozan family archives, Taylor sheds new light on this romantic triangle. More than just a casual fling, Zelda's tryst with Edouard affected Scott as much as it did his wife - and ultimately influenced the author's most famous creation, Jay Gatsby. Were it not for Zelda's affair with the pilot, Scott's novel might be less about betrayal and more about lost illusions.

Historia
For many people, Ernest Hemingway remains more a compilation of myths than a person: soldier, sportsman, lover, expat, and of course, writer. But the actual life underneath these various legends remains elusive; what did he look like as a laughing child or young soldier? How did the train tickets he held on his way from France to Spain or across the American Midwest transform him, and what kind of notes, for future stories or otherwise, did he take on these journeys? Ernest Hemingway: Artifacts from a Life answers these questions, and many others.

Great addition to the Hemingway biographies
Revisado: 10-24-18
This biography is a nicely distilled collection of Hemingway facts and insights, and all put into snippets of bigger picture historical context. Being from Oak Park personally, I was hooked from the intro, as the author describes driving down Austin Avenue with his father one cold morning. It was fantastic to have Patrick Hemingway's insights too. Well done.

Historia
Pigeonholed in popular memory as a Jazz Age epicurean, a playboy, and an emblem of the Lost Generation, F. Scott Fitzgerald was at heart a moralist struck by the nation's shifting mood and manners after World War I. In Paradise Lost, David Brown contends that Fitzgerald's deepest allegiances were to a fading antebellum world he associated with his father's Chesapeake Bay roots. Yet as a midwesterner, an Irish Catholic, and a perpetually in-debt author, he felt like an outsider in the haute bourgeoisie haunts.

The newest definitive Fitzgerald biography
Revisado: 01-08-18
David Brown has truly written the newest definitive biography on F Scott Fitzgerald. Brown's writing is both insightful and lyrical, somewhat commensurate with F Scott Fitzgerald's writing style, interestingly. The historical and cultural contexts of Fitzgerald's life and writing are presented very adeptly. Moreover, the psychological, philosophical, and romantic aspects of Fitzgerald's life, writing and thinking are all presented with great understanding and eloquence. It seems to me that this is the biography that F Scott Fitzgerald himself would have liked the most.

Hemingway's Brain is an innovative biography and the first forensic psychiatric examination of Nobel Prize-winning author Ernest Hemingway. After committing 17 years to researching Hemingway's life and medical history, Andrew Farah, a forensic psychiatrist, has concluded that the writer's diagnoses were incorrect. Contrary to the commonly accepted diagnoses of bipolar disorder and alcoholism, Farah provides a comprehensive explanation of the medical conditions that led to Hemingway's suicide.

Both a top-notch biography & psychiatric analysis
Revisado: 11-06-17
Absolutely outstanding new insight into the brain, life and literary work of Hemingway. This book exceeds expectations and points out myriad real-life case examples of the psychiatric conditions proposed and backed up. And the book does this while reading like an interesting biography, just as much as a work of cognitive analysis. This is a must read for any serious Hemingway scholar or fan. Very well done, Mr Farah.

Tolle's Insights are brilliantly elucidating. Any questions or reservations one might have are all systematically addressed in a question and answer fashion. The Power of Now is literally required reading for any person who aspires to gain spiritual-philosophical wisdom.
Tolle's reading really enhanced the experience, though I must be honest that the woman questioner's vocal style is very annoying. Luckily you only hear her for about a total of a five minutes, intermittent throughout the reading.
