unlikeable characters

I know I'm in the minority, but part of the reason I chose this title was because it said "if you liked where the crawdads sing" which I loved, however this was nothing like that. first, the main character Beth is unlikable and quite despicable as she is a married woman having this affair and i hated the Betrayal, and I'm not sure what Gabriel offers as a man. Why did he move back to his hometown after the divorce, of all towns in the world? I think he plotted to get Beth back and that is ghetto. I don't know what attributes Beth fell in love with it in Gabriel. It was a little perplexing to me. I do think the book was performed very well and it was good writing, I just thought the two main characters we're without morals and pretty unlikable as humans.

Did I listen the same book as everyone else?

What did I just listen to? A vigilante, Zade, who kills child traffickers who do the most unspeakable acts to children, stealing their lives, holding them captive, and forcing them into submission. BUT then that very same Zade always calling adult Adeline his "good little girl" (disgusting) and forcing her to do sex acts seemingly against her will is so hypocritical - and yet Adeline never puts this together, she protests less than a child and gives in Every..Single..Time. It was very one note and got a bit tedious. On top of that, the story about Gigi and the grandmother and mother, gets very convoluted as to which generation are they talking about because the grandmother and mother have nearly the same name. How does this have such high reviews?

such a unique point of view

over the years I've heard and read so many murder mystery and psychological thrillers and this one was completely different in a great way the point of view of the Storyteller and the descriptive Parts about the afterlife were presented in ways I never thought about and proved very interesting and entertaining all the way through, totally binged this one!

This is a wonderful heartwarming story that feels like a cross section of Forrest Gump, A Christmas Story and Some Kind of Wonderful. Emotional and heartwarming and heart-wrenching it's a beautiful story of a coming-of-age. My only dissatisfaction with the book was the narrator at some points mispronounces words and the editing is a little choppy but overall 5 stars.

ugh so predictable

File under PURE fiction. Immature, predictable and no one has the 100% dying devotion of Adult friends who are tripping over themselves to spend time with your kiddo, no matter how special the kiddo are, unless the friend is creepy. Same with her sage, always with words of wisdom, family, and then the main chapters lack of sense of "other people" , i just couldn'tfinish.

Rich Character Development

Another reviewer called this boring?!? Not! I listen to a LOT of Audiobooks and can find fault with many, but If you're a parent, married, and like rich character development, I think you will like this who dun it drama that's not typical nor has detectives, in the usual sense, figuring things out.
