Historia
A small community tucked deep in the forest, Beartown is home to tough, hardworking people who don’t expect life to be easy or fair. But they’ve always been able to take pride in their local ice hockey team. So it’s a cruel blow when they hear that Beartown ice hockey might soon be disbanded. What makes it worse is the obvious satisfaction that all the former Beartown players, who now play for a rival team in the neighboring town of Hed, take in that fact. As the tension mounts between the two adversaries, a newcomer arrives who gives Beartown hockey a surprising new coach and a chance at a comeback.

Revisado: 10-22-21
Such a great story and the second instalment in a two book series. Refreshing narrative and terrific characters. A back and forth that allows a glimpse ahead without seeming to jump chapters. Great narration. Swept through both books with barely a pause positively inviting the next commute.

Historia
Three years ago, Jason Bourne embarked on a mission in Estonia with his partner and lover, a fiery Treadstone agent code-named Nova. Their job was to rescue a Russian double agent who’d been smuggled out of St. Petersburg in the midst of an FSB manhunt. They failed. The Russian died at the hands of a shadowy assassin known only by the nickname Lennon. Now everything has changed for Bourne. Nova is gone, killed in a mass shooting in Las Vegas. Bourne is a lone operative, working in the shadows for Treadstone, when he’s called in for a new mission in London.

Disappointing
Revisado: 08-26-21
Robert Ludlum is a hard act to follow and this book shows this. This story lacks substance and credible characters. Bourne comes across as hesitant often. Scott Brick does his best but his performance couldn’t save the book.

Historia
When Marshall McEwan left his hometown at age 18, he vowed never to return. The trauma that drove him away ultimately spurred him to become one of the most successful journalists in Washington DC. But just as the political chaos in the nation’s capital lifts him to new heights, Marshall is forced to return home in spite of his boyhood vow. His father is dying, his mother is struggling to keep the family newspaper from failing, and the town is in the midst of an economic rebirth that might be built upon crimes that reach into the state capitol - and perhaps even to Washington.

Could not understand why sound effects for phone ringing and camera shutters clicking had to be verbalized. Click click click. Ring, ring, ring. Further the story lacked plausibility.

Historia
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

Wonderful from Cover to Cover
Revisado: 05-10-14
Where does The Book Thief rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of the best audiobooks I have listened to since I subscribed to audible. Top ten.
What did you like best about this story?
It really immersed me in second world war Germany and I could feel Himmelstrasse coming alive in my minds eye. The compassion of human beings traverses sides and it was quite evident early that the German people were far from enamoured by Adolph Hitler. The characters were quite vivid to me. It really reminded me that 'the German people' were subjected to a war and oppressed by a madman.
What about Allan Corduner’s performance did you like?
The narrative was excellent and the saukerl and saumensch regularly used with playful emphasis raised a smile.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It was a moving tale, beautifully written and narrated. A real mix of emotions from humour that made me laugh and then such sadness that did raise a tear. A real rollercoaster.
Any additional comments?
Will certainly revisit the book once my vivid memory of the text has faded a little.

Historia
Detective Carl Morck has received a bottle that holds an old and decayed message written in blood. It's a cry for help from two young brothers, tied and bound in a boathouse by the sea. After floating in the ocean for years before turning up, the bottle sat forgotten, unopened, on a police department windowsill, before the seal was cracked and the gruesome message, written in Danish, was analyzed. Could it be real? Who are these boys, and why weren't they reported missing? Could they possibly still be alive?

Cannot wait for Book 4
Revisado: 06-20-13
Would you listen to A Conspiracy of Faith again? Why?
Absolutely. I'll leave it to one side so that I can allow my vivid recollections to fade somewhat but the story line, the characters, and the clever slotting of each aspect of the story so that it is unclear whether the good guys are going to be in time to thwart the bad guy and save the day.
What other book might you compare A Conspiracy of Faith to and why?
The two previous books by Jusse Adler-Olsen are so different and yet just the same. These books don't just have a central character they have a cast of characters each richly contributing to the tales. There are great similarities with the books of Jo Nesbo and to a lesser extent Steig Larsson.
What about Graeme Malcolm’s performance did you like?
He has Assad off to a tee, the same character emerges in the narrative and the humour is not lost in translation. His narration is not affected or over done. Very neat performance true to pronunciations Danish throughout. Unrushed and smooth. Excellent, would seek out other books narrated by same.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Many, perhaps the most moving the naivety within marginal religeous sects which exposes those groups to abuse and within those groups the abuse meted out in the name of religeon. Terrible and inexcusable behaviour with patriarchs beating their children in the name of God.
Any additional comments?
Really looking forward to the next book in the series.

Slow starter but worth the wait
Revisado: 05-25-13
What did you love best about Best Kept Secret?
The central characters in the book mature and younger entirely plausible characters are introduced brilliantly.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Absolutely. Never quite sure where it was going to go next.
What about Alex Jennings and Emilia Fox ’s performance did you like?
Seamless and engaging. Both very much reading to the Jeffrey Archer intent in the writing.
If you could take any character from Best Kept Secret out to dinner, who would it be and why?
The landlady of the guest house. Salt of the earth type who would sit and share a newspaper wrapped cod and chips.
Any additional comments?
Left hanging on the edge of a clifton. Can't wait for the next installment.

What made the experience of listening to Inferno the most enjoyable?
It was a gripping tale that instantly placed Florence on my must visit list

Paul Michael has an even easy tone and his Italian accent brought Firenze to life
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Langdon goes viral to hell and back.
Any additional comments?
