Historia
Under 30,000 feet of water, the experimental exploration rig Leaguer has discovered an oil field larger than Saudi Arabia, with oil so sweet and pure, nations would go to war for the rights to it. But as the team starts drilling exploration well after exploration well in their race to claim the sweet crude, a deep rumbling beneath the ocean floor shakes them all to their core. Something has been living in the oil and it's about to give birth to the greatest threat humanity has ever seen.

Black and Blue reading
Revisado: 04-09-25
Story starts off okay, definitely written by someone who knows about life aboard an oil rig. But then we get helpless people unable to think or do anything helpful. The ending is predictable. This chtull monster made of oil is an original idea, and a great metaphor, but I don't think I want to read more about it. Definitely a one time monster story.

Okay but not enough Harry.
Revisado: 11-25-24
This book was all about Ballard. She breaks the law and ignores rules where she has too. So she's emulating Harry. I don't need a female Harry. Just give me Harry. You can be your own person Ballard. So the story was okay.

Bad luck and doomsday plot
Revisado: 09-23-24
This story was half way decent but then every character no matter what they did dies because they run into every monster no matter what they do. The story says only a hundred monsters exist yet every character in the book, even those on the last two pages dies. I hate fatalistic stories. You could have ended with 6 people, but the author wanted to end with two and his talking point. Jersey Devil was a better story.

Everyone knows the legend of the Jersey Devil. Some believe it is an abomination of nature, a hybrid winged beast from hell that stalks the Pine Barrens of southern New Jersey searching for prey. Others believe it is a hoax, a campfire story designed to scare children. But one man knows the truth....

Great monster story.
Revisado: 09-12-24
If you like a good monster story this one ranks up there. Descent story, lots of characters to root for, not quite sure who will live and who will die. There is also a great call back from the beginning. It felt longer than I thought, which means I was involved in the story and it kept my interest. For my suspension of disbelief, the story worked and I never questioned its fictional believability.

Historia
In August 2009, a 39-year-old policewoman went missing in Tamil Nadu. A month later, her heavily decomposed body was discovered in a drain by a graveyard. She had been brutally violated and killed. As the investigation started, the police detected a pattern in more than a dozen unsolved rape-and-murder cases with mutilated bodies of women turning up in graveyards, drains and empty fields along the highways. It didn’t take the police too long to find out that the perpetrator was a trucker named M Jaishankar.

India killer
Revisado: 08-29-24
I can't believe the ease this killer escaped capture on two occasions. Its laughable that he escaped in 2013 using tactics of a carton character. I hope India has reformed some of the way it handles prisoners.

Historia
Lush and deceptively tranquil, with its pristine beaches and blossoming vegetation, the island basks in splendid isolation off the South Carolina coast. Here, where sudden storms unleash the murderous rage of wind and sea, stands the Devereaux mansion, a once-great plantation house now crumbling amid ancient oaks dripping with Spanish moss. Here, Marguerite Devereaux, 50 and childless, has cast off her dreams to care for her aged, demanding mother.

1980s horror movie as literature
Revisado: 07-13-24
So this was a better novel I read (listened to) then 1980s Comes the Blind Fury!. Far better female characters this time. This novel reads and feels like a 1980s slasher. The readers focus or central character dies a third of the way into the novel. The reader now has to figure out who is the lead in the novel, but it turns out no one is. The novel main character becomes our crazed killer. You don't think so, but its true. So I credit the novel for stretching out a third of the whole novel into a single stormy night. That was impressive. And the story was entertaining, but not in an annoying way. Still weak in a few parts, but okay over all.

No train has run on this railroad since the end of the Civil War—a railroad built by the servitude to perfect evil—and its trusted tracks run right behind the house. Justin Collier expects his respite in Gast, Tennessee, to be relaxing if not a bit dull, but he will find out soon enough that those same train tracks once led to a place worse than Hell.

Missing the old Edward Lee.
Revisado: 06-23-24
So this story is an extreme version of the novel the Black Train. And regrettably I'm like what was the point of this story besides describing some really depraved sex acts and over the top slaughter? Now don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Lee, love Incubus, Succubus, Coven, and many of his mainstream and some from Never Publications, but this story goes no where. There isn't anything that made me care about the characters or become invested in the story. Sure had a few funny parts, but overall I wanted less extreme and just a strong story with some fleshed out characters. If the point was to be extreme he did it. It was okay with Bighead because you didn't need to flesh out that story. But this 9 hour audio book went no where and did nothing for me. Very disappointed, but it wasn't as bad as Witch Water which felt like a copy of this book. Same story and scenario. That book I stopped reading when the time travel started. I finished this book and just...sighed at my disappointment.

When a sink hole opens up near the Australian outback town of Pintalba, it uncovers a pristine cave system. Sam joins an expedition to explore the subterranean passages as paramedic support, hoping to remain unneeded at base camp. But, when one of the cavers is injured, he must overcome paralyzing claustrophobia to dive pitch-black waters and squeeze through the bowels of the earth. Scary mer-folk
Revisado: 04-26-24
If I could I give it 3.5 stars. An enjoyable sci-fi horror, lots of tension in the right places. But the female characters contribute nothing to the story. They can't do anything but play victim or crazy villains who nonsensical logic really annoyed me. When two characters are in a scene together, I hate when the point of view character is able to engage in some kind of action, while the second just stands around unable to move or speak until after its too late for the point of view character. Otherwise for s monster book, this was okay.
