Historia
For maverick LAPD homicide detective Harry Bosch, the body in the drainpipe at Mulholland Dam is more than another anonymous statistic. This one is personal...because the murdered man was a fellow Vietnam "tunnel rat" who had fought side by side with him in a hellish underground war. Now Bosch is about to relive the horror of Nam.

As enjoyable as I hoped.
Revisado: 07-18-13
Having read and enjoyed the Harry Bosch series years ago I was wary about whether or not the audible experience would live up to my expectations. Refreshing my memory re the plot was to be expected and while there were no surprises I did pick up nuances missed from my original reading. The narration was excellent and I was able to lose myself in the world of Hollywood Homicide and the characters very easily. I will go onto the next Harry Bosch eagerly.

“I didn’t do it!” is something cops hear all the time. But when the plea comes from a close friend who’s fallen on hard times, it’s tougher to ignore, especially for young Officer Danny Boyle. It’s the start of another action-packed summer for the wisecracking Boyle and straight-arrow cop (now chief of detectives) John Ceepak down the Jersey Shore as they do their best to help Danny’s friend, a young nurse who claims she has been falsely accused of aggravated assault by a prestigious Sea Haven doctor.

Now what?!
Revisado: 05-14-13
I can't decide which is best between the narration or the story but together they are the best audible series I have listened to. My only problem now is after dragging this "listen" out over 2 days I can't wait for the next one! Fabulous stories that suck you in to the world of Danny and Ceepak, mysteries are resolved (not always a soft ending, unusual but real!) and the character development is always progressing.

Historia
In this first novel by Agatha Christie, she introduces the inimitable Hercule Poirot, who would go on to appear in 33 Christie novels and 54 short stories. Outside of Sherlock Holmes and perhaps Philip Marlowe, he is the best-known detective in the history of the genre. The Mysterious Affair at Styles deals with the case of an old woman poisoned with strychnine for her money. Nothing is obvious, however, in the way Christie handles a plot.

Competent reading of a classic
Revisado: 02-20-12
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
It took a while to get past the echoes in the recording, next time I will probably pay more for the other audible options, but once past that it was a competent enough telling of a well known story.
Would you be willing to try another book from Agatha Christie? Why or why not?
I will try other book from Agatha Christie, having read hard copies of all of the stories I will enjoy listening to another interpretation.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Perhaps more inflection for Poirot would have made him more enjoyable.
Could you see The Mysterious Affair at Styles being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
I've seen the tele series of many Christie stories, not many of them get it right. Can't beat Ustinov for Poirot.

Disappointing
Revisado: 12-19-11
Would you try another book from Janet Evanovich and/or Lorelei King?
Sadly I am an avid fan of these novels and have read the hard copies numerous times. I was wary about trying an audible experience knowing that I would be very hard to please and luckily purchased this one on sale as I just could not listen past the first half hour. I know the story well, so was not looking for any surprises but for me the narration killed it.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Least interesting was the narration.
Would you be willing to try another one of Lorelei King’s performances?
Perhaps from another author that I am not so familiar with.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
No.
Any additional comments?
I am eager to find other stories to listen to that I will enjoy as well as I have the hard copies of the Evanovich books.
