Historia
Claudia Morgan is overwhelmed. She's a single parent trying the best that she can, but her four-year-old son, Henry, is a handful - for her and for his preschool. When Claudia hears about a school with an atypical teaching style near her Chicagoland home, she has to visit. The Hawthorne School is beautiful and has everything she dreams of for Henry: time to play outside, music, and art. But when Henry brings home stories of ceremonies in the woods and odd rules, Claudia's instincts tell her that something isn't quite right.

Historia
Bestselling mystery writer Lucy Harper's talent for invention has given her fame, fortune, and an army of adoring readers. It has also saddled her with dependents, namely her fawning husband Dan. When Dan suddenly goes missing, his disappearance evokes dark memories that take Lucy back more than thirty years—to the day her brother vanished without a trace. That's when Lucy began conjuring stories. The police investigation revealed few confirmed details, so she created tales to fill in the gaps, to explain what happened that day her brother disappeared—and Lucy was the only witness.

Couldn't finish this one
Revisado: 10-05-21
I have listened to other books by this author so I was excited to listen to this novel. I just couldn't get into this book despite listening for about 1.5 hours. The story didn't grab me and I wasn't able to connect to the main characters. At times the narrator spoke too quickly or ran words together without enough pauses. I'm sure it will work for others, but not for me.

Loved it!
Revisado: 06-15-21
This book was an interesting mix of a modern-day ghost story blended with bits of well-known childhood fairy tales. I really enjoyed the narrator's voice and was frustrated each time I was interrupted and had to turn it off. Had I been reading a physical book I would have read it one sitting. This was my first book by Mark Edwards and I'm looking forward to reading another!

Historia
Since early 2020, the world has experienced a series of catastrophic events - a global pandemic caused by a so-called novel coronavirus; international lockdowns and border closings causing widespread business closures, economic collapse, and massive unemployment; and an unprecedented curtailment of civil liberties and freedoms in the name of keeping people safe by locking them up in their homes.

Appreciate the alternative guidance...
Revisado: 06-15-21
I have been reading Dr. Mercola's articles on health for many years and find his guidance refreshing and useful. I really appreciate that this book provides information about specific supplements and treatments one could use to avoid or treat COVID. I plan to order a hard copy of the book so that I have this information handy should I need it for myself or my family.
I also listened very carefully to the information shared about the authors' concerns about the COVID vaccines currently being given. I feel strongly that we learn some very negative things about these vaccines in years to come that are either simply not known yet, or are being purposely withheld.
I didn't give the book 5 stars because I still am not 100% convinced that COVID is a result of a bunch of rich, global masterminds (and international organizations) getting together in secret to plan a global pandemic that would result in fear and the ability to control the masses financially, emotionally, physically, etc.

I really enjoyed this book and the narrators voice (which I believe has a great impact on whether one enjoys an audio book, or not). It was short and sweet!

Pretty Good. Kept me guessing.
Revisado: 11-18-19
I did enjoy this book overall; it takes the readers to some pretty dark places that were disturbing to me, however. I felt like the ending left some loose ends, but overall a good mystery.

I really enjoyed this story! The performance was fantastic and the story was suspenseful. I only wish (1) it was longer (because I enjoyed it so much) and (2) Audible offered more books by the same author!

Historia
During the languid days of the Christmas break, a group of 30-something friends from Oxford meets to welcome in the New Year together, a tradition they began as students 10 years ago. For this vacation, they’ve chosen an idyllic and isolated estate in the Scottish Highlands - the perfect place to get away and unwind by themselves. They arrive on December 30, just before a historic blizzard seals the lodge off from the outside world. Two days later, on New Year’s Day, one of them is dead.

Really enjoyed this story...
Revisado: 04-29-19
I really enjoyed this book. I was hoping Lucy Foley had written other suspense stories since I liked this one so much, but it seems like most of her other books are novels and not of the mystery genre. The character development and the performance by the readers was fantastic!

Revisado: 04-29-19
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and hope to listen to more books by Alex Lake. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that it seemed a bit short -- like it suddenly came to an ending and there should have been more to wrap the story up.

Suspenseful but very tough to finish...
Revisado: 12-12-18
I listened and stopped listening to this book about five times. Some of the themes were quite disturbing and made me very uncomfortable. However, the suspense and the performance were so good that I forced myself to finish it. I don't want to give anything away, but I kept wondering what kept the main character, Grace, silent. That seemed far-fetched to me. Not for the faint of heart.
