This book is kind of Scrooge, with a sales twist. Though, you don't need to be a sales person to take away the amazing life lessons the author shares.
I'll admit, I was bored during the first 7-10 minutes or so - as the author told his story, that of a regular salesman with a very normal life. After sustaining a concussion, he wakes up as a massively more successful version of himself. The successful version of himself explains how he did it - by not being afraid of hearing 'No', and thusly not being afraid to takes risks in your life.
Gotta admit, I teared up when the author's journey, with his more successful self, comes to a close. Really truly inspiring way to look at ones life, and overcoming your fear!

Really comprehensive overview of the work that's being done to map the inner workings of the brain, on a neuronal level! I would have liked to hear a bit more about the computer software the research team was using, and more about how it has advanced; but, I think the focus was well placed, that being on how the human brain is being mapped out.

I am continuously impressed with the amount of research that goes into all of Gladwell's books! The examples in Blink, similar to Outliers, are very relatable, always informative and offer new perspectives on things that a person may not look as closely at, or dismiss altogether. I am truly inspired when I read anything that Gladwell does. His elogant writing would be enough alone, but it's so much more - his conversation style writing feels like a conversation with a good friend that imparts wisdom, philosophy, and a richness about life. Excellent work!!

There was some really good information in this book, but it sounds like every other recipe that every other self help book offers. If you haven't listened to any other books on building your self confidence, then this might be an option for you. Also, I found the author repeting the same idea over and over again. It's appropriate in this context (that of self-love, self-affirmations), but I found it to be a bit too much. A perfect example of what this book is, is at the very beginning - the author mentions a gentleman he worked with that was very shy, and that man overcame his shyness, using the methods he lays out in this book. He could have just told me quickly what they were, and then spent the rest of the book explaining - that would have put it all in contexr.
