I enjoyed the story and the narrator
Revisado: 10-19-23
I almost did not get this book because of the horrible reviews I read about the narrator. I listen to about 5 audiobooks a week, have hundreds in my library, and I can honestly say… I like the narrator, and I don’t see what others found wanting. I enjoyed the story and will continue on with the series.

I would have listened to the whole series….
Revisado: 12-25-21
I’ve listened to hundreds of audio books. I have never said this…but the narrator Ruined the series for me. The voices he uses for the characters are not good…especially annoying is the lead female character, Maria, who is supposed to be a beautiful AMERiCAN CIA agent…he makes her dialog sound like a foreign character with stilted English. I’m making it through this book…but then…I’m giving up on other books narrated by this reader. If you disagree, I’d love to hear it🤣

Historia
For Meredith Gale, ending her life seems like her only choice, and that choice is the reason she’s dangling by her fingertips from a bridge high above the freezing water of the San Francisco Bay. But someone or some thing has other plans for Meredith, and as her fingers slip from the cold steel of the bridge, a disembodied voice asks her a simple question: “Candidate 13: Do you wish to be saved?” Realizing her mistake too late, Meredith screams “Yes!” and instantly finds herself transported to a mysterious island, alongside hundreds of other Candidates like her.

Slow...I am surprised at the 4 plus overall rating
Revisado: 05-26-20
I listened for about 3/4 of the book, then could not take it anymore and skipped to the end. The premise was great. That’s about all I can say about it.

Historia
In Joy on Demand, Chade-Meng Tan shows that you don't need to meditate for hours, days, months, or years to achieve lasting joy - you can actually get consistent access to it in as little as 15 seconds. Explaining joy and meditation as complementary things that naturally reinforce each other, Meng explains how these two skills form a virtuous cycle and, once put into motion, become a solid practice that can be sustained in daily life.

I really wanted to like this book...
Revisado: 06-22-17
What would have made Joy on Demand better?
The narration really did not work for me. Perhaps I should have read this book myself. I don't think I'll be able to listen to the end.
What was most disappointing about Chade-Meng Tan’s story?
He equates a lot of things toward work. It is a book on meditation...which I did not understand from the start. Then he says on one hand that you can get benefits quickly...and on the other hand....talks about the importance of having thousands of hours under your belt.
How could the performance have been better?
It could have been a bit more contemplative, and a bit less cheerleader ish.
Any additional comments?
This may be the very first book I've purchased from Audible (I have over 100) that I do not finish.

Not much here
Revisado: 05-22-17
Not much in the way of character development. Story was pretty standard. My jaw certainly did not drop, as the end was pretty easy to deduce. I would not recommend.

I thought the narration was excellent.
If you’ve listened to books by Scott Craig before, how does this one compare?
This was my first book by Scott Craig.

No...I listened over several days.
Any additional comments?
The story line was interesting....there was a large time gap in the middle of the book that put me off a bit.
