Would listen again
Revisado: 02-15-24
Diary of an Artist in Love is an immersive audiobook experience. The audiobook is about an hour long and it is so relaxing. The poems are told in a soft, breathy voice that took me a poem or two to get used to but once it was I found it very relaxing. It includes soothing background music to complement the poems. Each poem is focused on the theme of love. I would like to read the physical copy as I’ve read the illustrations are beautiful. I will listen to the audiobook again as I enjoyed it so much.

Historia
Gordie MacLean, a 53-year-old bachelor detective is content minding his own patch of Cape Breton Island with its rugged coastal landscape and low crime rate. When the remains of a missing person are discovered though, he’s in the right place at the right time to be lead on the case. MacLean battles his sergeant’s scorn and his own demons to prove that he can hunt down the killer; a killer who will stop at nothing to protect their long-buried secrets.

Excellent police procedural
Revisado: 02-15-24
If you enjoy a good mystery/police procedural this book would be good for you. A body is found while digging up a garden and the nickname Garden Girl stuck for a little while. I listened to the audiobook which was about 9 hours. I really enjoyed the police work and how they had to follow multiple avenues to try to solve the case. Gordie is a very relatable character. An older cop on his first major case who has a lot to prove. I think his boss wanted Gordie to fail at the case but Gordie was determined to solve it and find justice. An excellent story that will keep you engaged from beginning to end.

Historia
Abductions and murder are not what ex-DCI Luke Sackville expected when he left the police after tragedy struck his family. Luke’s return to the workplace was meant to be a soft landing, but when a woman vanishes after being accused of taking bribes, he is assigned a disparate team and tasked with tracking her down. Their search becomes more urgent when her disappearance is linked to the death of a second woman. When a third goes missing, the hunt becomes a race against time.

Good series
Revisado: 12-08-23
As the first book in a series it sets the tone for the series. Ex police officer Luke, takes a job in a corporation only to find out on his first day that his job has changed. He is still able to use his police skills in this fast paced story. The book starts right up with little time to get to know the characters but you have time in the story to learn them. I really enjoyed Luke’s personality and would read more about him. I loved his team and hope they are in future books in the series.

Historia
Before my world came crashing down, I had it all. The successful career I dreamed of. The beautiful red-brick home where I could relax in front of the fire. The handsome, devoted husband whose blue eyes and charming smile always made me feel safe. As I call time of death, my voice is steady. My colleagues stand hushed around me, their eyes on me, confused, concerned.

The Surgeon
Revisado: 04-07-23
The narrator reads at the perfect pace and with the right emotion. The story centers around a patient that dies in the surgeon’s table. At the end of the surgery, the surgeon recognizes the patient as someone from her past. The story is well thought out and has a lot of twists. Some of the conversations seem to drag on longer than necessary but overall the story is worth the listen.
