Loved the Story. Loved the narrator!
Revisado: 08-08-20
Don't Keep Silent By: Elizabeth Goddard Narrated by: Amanda Dolan First, I have loved Elizabeth Goddard's books for some time. Second, this was my first time for hearing Amanda Dolan and I loved her narration. The storyline, itself, is riveting and Ms. Dolan keeps the story energized and fast paced. I have been so disappointed with some of the narrators on Audible that I had stopped buying any. I will continue to watch for readings by Ms. Dolan in the future. If I could change anything about the narration, it would be for Ms. Dolan to develop better male voices as some of them seemed too similar. However, that did not change my enjoyment of her narration.
The story, itself, is about a reporter who is in search of her missing sister-in-law and the roller coaster ride she finds herself and her former love interest upon. I especially loved the McKade brothers and how Ms. Goddard wove them into this series. This is book 3 in the series. This one is my favorite.

Thought Provoking Story -- Excellent Narration!
Revisado: 05-25-19
Driftwood Bay by Irene Hannon -- As far as I am concerned, Irene Hannon has hit a winning home run -- again! Luv this author and her Christian stories and this is one that I will listen to again and again, as I do so with many of her stories. And, Therese Plummer, as always, does an excellent job bringing this story to life. A very gifted author and an equally gifted narrator!

When Deputy Sam Brooks commits to something, nothing can sway him - not just on the job as liaison between the Mercy Falls sheriff's department and PEAK Rescue but in his private life. He's the one who stuck around to take care of his mother after his father's accidental death. And he's the one - perhaps the only one - who believes Sierra Rose is the perfect girl for him. Safe, practical, and organized, she's nothing like her hippie, impulsive, bleeding heart sister, Willow.

Loved the Book. Narration -- Not so Much
Revisado: 01-02-18
What did you love best about Rescue Me?
I loved the continuing development of these characters! I especially loved that Sam finally recognized his love for Willow. I really love Susan May Warren's books and the fact that her stories are so detailed and well developed.
What did you like best about this story?
No question about it, I loved that Willow was willing to go to any lengths to save the teens. I was very impressed with Sam's & Quinn's heroic efforts to get help for Willow & the teens. I have to include Jess & Pete's encounter with the bear! Talk about drama! Kept me on the edge of my seat!
Would you listen to another book narrated by Cynthia Farrell?
No. I have this Audible & the first in this series, "Wild Montana Skies," also performed by this narrator. While I think this narrator has the ability to narrate books, I feel she does an injustice to this series. These books are action/energy stories. This narrator is just too stoic/laid back/lacking in energy for these books, I feel. If she just put more energy/emotion into her reading, I think she would do fine. But, I will not buy another Audible done by her at this point. Sorry. That's my opinion.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did listen without turning the Audible off. Later, I listened via another Kindle voice reader and, although, it was somewhat halting, I felt it gave a better read.
Any additional comments?
I have almost all of Susan May Warren's books & love most of them! I have Audibles for many of them also and love those Audibles. I have read/listened to them over and over. I love that these books are based on Christian values without being preachy.

"Feels Like Going Home" with Georgie & Darcy!
Revisado: 12-22-17
Would you listen to On Her Majesty's Frightfully Secret Service again? Why?
I love, love all of Her Royal Spyness Series and read them over. Yes, this one too! I am continually amazed at how Rhys Bowen keeps this series in top notch adventure/mystery and sweet romance.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
I can't say that the plot kept me on the edge of my seat BUT the mystery/adventure keeps your interest to the point that you do not want to stop even for a moment. What will happen next hooks you into the story. What's going on to keep Darcy and Georgie apart? What's happening with Belinda? Is mom, the Flake (my term), still involved in G's life? Why is the Queen pleased that "G" is going to Italy? Who is the killer?
Which scene was your favorite?
I could envision Darcy climbing up the vine to Georgie's room (going through that work to do this) .... only to get no response from Georgie....while a very cold rain is pouring all around! (All the while, Georgie is sleeping soundly due to drugs put into her tea without her knowledge.) I could feel his angst, knowing that he needed the information Georgie wanted to give to him.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Mayhem and Murder Stalk Georgie's Italian Vacation
Any additional comments?
I love that Rhys Bowen does such careful research regarding the events of the times in which Georgie lives. As young girl, I recall Social Studies that touched upon some of the events in these stories.
I always love Katherine Kellgren's narrations, which is why I continue to get the Audible book. She keeps the story interesting and up beat.

Not Fond of Novellas but These 3 Were Good
Revisado: 07-17-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. The audiobooks add another dimension to these stories. I love Therese Plummer's style as her voice adds a "zing" to the story which keeps you captivated & energized throughout Lynette Eason's (a fav of mine!) "Blackout."
What was one of the most memorable moments of Sins of the Past?
You can feel the fear and panic and desperation in Macy when she discovers that her phone has been removed and the window is open as though someone had entered her house to harm her. With Lynette Eason's writing and Therese Plummer's intense narration skills, all of that fear, panic, etc come through and puts the reader right there with Macy. There were also several such moments in Dani Pettrey's, "Shadowed."
Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?
Of course, I loved Chad in Blackout but I also loved Ben in Shadowed.
Who was the most memorable character of Sins of the Past and why?
I loved, John's mother, Martha, in Dee Henderson's, "Missing." She was a delightfully spunky senior citizen who kept her wits about her. Kinda reminded me of "Murder She Wrote."
Any additional comments?
I really do not like novellas. However, since these short stories are grouped together, they do make an interesting read for a rainy day. I really like each of these authors and enjoyed these stories. I especially like learning about the beginnings of the McKenna family. I also enjoyed a story built around some senior citizens in, "Missing." I gave this 4 stars for performance because I am not fond of one of the narrators. I almost gave it 5 stars based upon Therese Plummer's narration, which I felt was excellent.

Luv, Luv Sweet Talk!
Revisado: 04-01-16
What did you love best about Sweet Talk: A Novel?
I loved all aspects of this story! The main characters, of course. I loved how Julie Garwood wove the plot & sub plots together.
What did you like best about this story?
Of course, the developing love between Grayson & Olivia! I read the complaints that Grayson is just a one or two dimensional character. Perhaps. But I saw him as complex: a tough FBI agent; a sweet, tender lover who was steadfast (yes, periods of absenteeism but working on her behalf even when she was not aware of that); an involved and caring Uncle; protector of those in his life; very supportive of Olivia's goals (her care for her friends, her goal towards her father, etc).
What about Angela Dawe’s performance did you like?
I have always been a fan of Angela Dawe. She does not have as great a range of voices for the characters as some narrator's have but you can tell character changes (if story is clear) and she injects a needed enthusiasm into the story that is necessary to keep interest.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! And I will listen to this story again and again.
Any additional comments?
While it is true that this book follows the Garwood "format" for her books: strong hero, somewhat independent heroine, beautiful, beautiful, (and yes, often nauseatingly) beautiful H/h, nevertheless, she comes up with some good stories to go along with such. I would prefer there not be such an emphasis on physical attributes as, certainly, not The Most Beautiful & Endowed people can attain such a beautiful love. I ignore The Beautiful and ENJOY the story! Also, all the sex gets BORING after reading descriptions time after time. I would love this book without the sex. I am quite capable of figuring out what is happening without being treated like sex starved teenager. After having said that, this is my favorite book that Garwood has written although I LOVED the Buchanan stories and wish she would do more.

Well Written Romance Mystery
Revisado: 03-01-16
What did you love best about The McCarran Collection?
I loved this well written story with its surprising twists and turns and well fleshed out characters. Bridget, Lew, Diego & Lark were easy to see in my imagination & easy to love. One scene that I really loved was when Bridget took Diego from the hospital to hide him.
What did you like best about this story?
I really liked that the main characters accepted Lark with her memory problems as though nothing was wrong. They never seemed impatient with her. They were people with their own flaws and patiently accepted Lark's.
What about Tanya Mills’s performance did you like?
At first, I did not like this narrator at all! I thought about returning this Audible book. Her narration was so flat. My Kindle can verbalize that well for me. I really like narrators who put energy and acting into the narration. l decided to listen for a couple more chapters and she did do better. I would have liked for her to pause when changing from one subject to another. For instance, Bridget & Lew would be talking to each other, then one would remember something from his/her past. The narration needed a pause, I felt, to clarify that we were moving into the past. It was confusing to follow. I did like her narration as a whole. I liked her tone & she did do some voices, which made it more interesting. I would have preferred that she would put more energy/life into her narrations. I have purchased another book that she narrates. I think I will like her more now that I have adapted to her style.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Extreme reaction?? Yes! The accident was totally unexpected and I heard myself shout, "No!"
Any additional comments?
There was no sex in this book which I prefer as I can listen when I am doing housework and not be embarrassed when kids ask questions about what they heard. I consider this a Clean Reads book. It was a delightful romance while investigating a gruesome accident and trying to solve a mystery. And, I LOVED Diego! Well done Liz Adair. I hope Audible will add more of her work. And, I did not receive this Audible book to create this review.

Love Blooms Through Forgiveness for Annyn & Garr
Revisado: 01-23-16
What made the experience of listening to The Unveiling the most enjoyable?
I felt that the very clear descriptions of the characters and setting made this Audible story very enjoyable.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved Annyn's independence & perserverance regarding Jason's death. And, of course, the developing love between Annyn & Garr.
Which scene was your favorite?
There were many favorite scenes for me in this story. I suppose that the one that stands out for me is when Annyn, posing as a male, is required to carry bucket after bucket to Garr's room to fill the tub for his bath. I couldn't help but chuckle. I liked the author's clarifications regarding the difficulties Annyn faced posing as a male although she possessed excellent skills in sword fighting, archery & using a knife.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No extreme reactions for me although the book did give me several laughs and a few moments where I would have been embarrassed to be in such a situation, such as: the hanging out of the "morning after" sheet.
Any additional comments?
I LOVED that this was a "clean read" book! No explicit sexual description. However, the author does a great job of a passionate love between Annyn & Garr. Also, I thought this book moved a little too slowly. There are 5 books to this series although each book can stand alone. I have read 3 of the 5 and found that each book gets better! This book has passionate love, overt spiritual references, suspense, knights & fights. Overall, an enjoyable read.

The reign of King John means dark days for all of England. Not one man, woman, or child lived without fear. Magnifying this fear is the man they call The Lord of the Shadows - a terrifying figure who sits at the right hand of the King, manipulating the royal moves like a puppet master. The Lord of the Shadows has been known to tear men apart with his bare hands and can, with a snap of his fingers, alter the future of anyone he chooses.

Best Story by Le Veque & Absolutely Best Narrator
Revisado: 10-03-15
If you could sum up Lord of the Shadows in three words, what would they be?
Enthralling, Passionate, Enjoyable
What was one of the most memorable moments of Lord of the Shadows?
Sean, the monster whom all fear, & sweet, but independent, Sheridan when they meet for a moonlight walk & talkSean's battle being seriously outnumbered by the King's Guard where Sheridan finds him near deathPlus one other which would be a spoiler so I will not list itAll of these stand out for me. Couldn't pick just one.
What does Brad Wills bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Having read most of Le Veque's books & listened to the corresponding audible versions, I have heard many of the narrators. Without a doubt, Mr. Wills tops the list. I could listen to almost anything he narrates. I love the many voices he gives to the characters. I often listen at night so am, especially, pleased with his deep voices, which I find calming. Even when he raises his voice for a particular emphasis, it is not aggravating. He creates great enthusiasm & passion to the written word, making you feel as if you are right there with the character. Mr. Wills truly brings the story to life! He is definitely a master of this craft! I wish he could go back and re-narrate some of Le Veque's books by another narrator. I would help the story so much more! (There are a couple of other narrators of Le Veque's books that I do like but Mr. Wills is still the best in my opinion.)
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Sean & Sheridan's conversation when he was so gravely wounded.
Any additional comments?
Having read most of Le Veque's books, Lord of the Shadows remains my very, very favorite one. From beginning to end, it was engrossing & endearing. I loved Sheridan because she was such a strong, independent woman in a man's world. I loved Sean because he was strong yet so tender with Sheridan (even though he was such a monster under the King's direction). Because of Sheridan, Sean chose a different path in life. While they fell in love quickly (too quickly for those who think logically), their love took root & flourished because of the seemingly insurmountable obstacles which they faced. I have read and re-read this book many times. I love it that much! Another reason that I loved this book was that there were none of Le Veque's explicit sexual descriptions thrown throughout (disgustingly) the book as she does so frequently, making this a true ROMANCE book, not soft porn, in my opinion. There is no question about Le Veque being a very good writer of books such as these. What a shame that she feels she must indoctrinate her readers with her versions of sex, thereby telling us that this is how sex is supposed to be. I grew up a long time ago and am able to figure out what comes next. Don't insult me like this! And, yes, I know. This review will not be posted.

What made the experience of listening to Rowan's Lady the most enjoyable?
The excellent narration by Brad Wills with his many character voices.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Fav. character: Rowan, of course. Demonstrated great character traits. Lady Arline, next fav. then Lilly. Most despised: Lady Beatrice and one other which would possibly be a spoiler so I won't name him.
What does Brad Wills bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Oh, those delightful accents, especially Scottish accents. I did read along some of the time and I loved his interpretation of a word, here, a phrase, there, which would not have occurred to me.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I was so angered at Beatrice! If she had been real, I would have decked her for her lies! Chuckle.
Any additional comments?
I've read several of Suzan Tisdale's books. I enjoy all of them, especially Wee William's Woman. However, this one is my favorite of her books now. I have to say that this book had many twists and turns. Very nice!
