Creative and refreshingly funny

Fabulous book and storyline. Brilliantly written and wonderful characters. My only wish, that Val’s voice wasn’t so deep masculine sounding. John Hopkins is a brilliant narrator, but Val’s voice just needs a slightly more feminine tone to it. It made it hard to distinguish that a female was speaking, but that is just me. lol

A book full of coal
Revisado: 01-02-25
I tried so hard to like this book, but it just became more depressing the more I read it. I tried so hard to get through it and find something that brought happiness, but I couldn’t. Very predictable for me and so cold. I kept waiting for something that would bring about the Christmas spirit, but it was just about anger and greed. The end wasn’t even redeeming. This is not a book for Christmas, and for this who love it, I hope you found joy because I couldn’t find it at all.

Murder for miles and miles.
Revisado: 09-24-24
Absolutely Brilliant! It started a smidge slow, I first thought, but then I realized I was just getting to know my characters, which was so important, and then the story took to the air and away we went . So creatively written, incredible and unique characters that makes you feel like you have new forever friends. I thought it might be a long book, but the next thing I knew, i was down to the last chapters and I didn’t want it to end. It is witty writing that brought so much joy and yet tugged so deeply on my heart strings. I am now already counting down the days until I can be back together with my new best friends on another grand adventure. Richard Osman is an incredibly fabulous writer, who never lets me down. He is just straight out brilliant! And now I must wait, lol…………….

Fabulous reading while learning new things all the time!!!
Revisado: 07-30-24
Another intriguing and creative storyline. I don’t know how you do it. I feel as though you have given me the gift of time travel because you allow the reader to become so absorbed in the story, while making sure that not even the smallest detail is left out. I also learn so many new things with each book, and most authors don’t take the time to do that. Thank you! Who could ask for more!

Revisado: 07-28-24
Great story, like all the others, yet getting the feeling there were some things that just didn’t make sense, like the drowning, and not completely feasible for just the one person to have accomplished the murders. Not my favorite story line, so sorry.

I couldn’t even get through chapter 2, wrong narrator choice
Revisado: 05-28-23
I am at a loss for words……. Absolutely unlistenable. I am so sorry. I tried and tried. The main character has lost all her appeal, you can’t tell who is speaking anymore and everything runs together. You can’t even find or follow the plot. I have finished with this delightful series, which is heartbreaking. I loved it. What a disappointment from such a delightful writer.

Historia
No outsiders are ever admitted to the monastery of Saint-Gilbert-Entre-les-Loups, hidden deep in the wilderness of Quebec, where two dozen cloistered monks live in peace and prayer. They grow vegetables, they tend chickens, they make chocolate. And they sing. Ironically, for a community that has taken a vow of silence, the monks have become world-famous for their glorious voices, raised in ancient chants whose effect on both singer and listener is so profound it is known as “the beautiful mystery.”

I do believe this is my favorite book by far. The depth, the story, the insight, the patience, the sincerity of faith and real life. I have always been taken with Gregorian chants and the way they touch the soul, although it is not something I was brought up with, and this showed me I am not alone. The quote at the end is one I have carried with me all my life and have always felt it was a great example of faith. Thank you for taking the time to write this and to deal with the true struggles of life and how they live deep within, beyond outward appearances. You have such a gift and talent. Your ability to write and connect has touched my soul and I am forever grateful. Thank you! This is a timeless and wonderful read!!!
