Historia
When a teenage girl is found dead in the woods, her body posed like an angel, Stockholm holds its breath. The kill bears a chilling resemblance to those of the Angel Maker, a serial killer caught two decades ago.... One who just died in prison. Detective Inspector Jamie Johansson is taking some much-needed time away from the London Met when the call comes in. Her father, one of Stockholm's most notorious detectives, caught the Angel Maker when she was just a girl, and Jamie has long since closed the door to that part of her life.

Been there, done that. Nothing original.
Revisado: 02-06-25
I didn’t enjoy this as much as everyone else. The foreign accent and similar sounding names made it difficult to follow but you get used to it. Using Wok pronoun “They” to describe one person occurred every time Jamie encountered an unknown assailant only added to the confusion.
The story plays out like a typical episode of “Law and Order” and is just interesting enough to finish but not a page turner.
There was also a “FemaNazi” aspect to the story in that all of the positions of authority, all of the great thinkers, all of the best fighters and marksmen are all women.
All of the men are depicted as buffoons and violent non thinkers with a host of problems.
I won’t go any farther in this series.

Historia
Narrator Dan Stevens ( Downton Abbey) presents an uncanny performance of Mary Shelley's timeless gothic novel, an epic battle between man and monster at its greatest literary pitch. In trying to create life, the young student Victor Frankenstein unleashes forces beyond his control, setting into motion a long and tragic chain of events that brings Victor to the very brink of madness. How he tries to destroy his creation, as it destroys everything Victor loves, is a powerful story of love, friendship, scientific hubris, and horror.

I wept for the creature.
Revisado: 11-01-24
It is said that people Frankenstein is not the monster. Frankenstein is the doctor that created the monster.
That is not entirely true. Frankenstein was the Monster! The creature he created was a sympathetic soul who fate was cast by gutless coward that created him.
The story moves very slowly at first and is often unbearably mushy in its sentiment but picks up considerably once the creature’s point of view is revealed.
Many of us feel the scourge of being the outcast at times in our lives and can therefore relate to its plight on some level.
The self righteous Victor still professed his innocence to the end and never acknowledged that he caused every bit of misery to every single character in the story.

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

The Twist was stunning but …
Revisado: 06-24-24
Given the other reviews, I expected a page turner. The story held my interest and reminded me of “The Woman in White” and a little “One flew over the cuckoo’s nest”. The twist is tremendous but I’ll have to read it again to look for inconsistencies.

Good story but trial was weak
Revisado: 11-06-23
The story was interesting enough and the narrator performed pretty well.
I was left with questions concerning the police’s handling of the evidence and I suspected the police chief is more corrupt than what was released in this story and will probably resurface in the next iteration of the series. Also, the first lawyer’s demise screamed conspiracy but was never more than a vehicle to put Nate in the position of lead attorney.
The trial itself was weak and less clever than I had hoped.

An exciting and gripping tale.
Revisado: 09-18-23
I found myself transported to a floating iceberg that was on the verge of exploding! The description and details made the experience feel real.
My only criticism would be the unnecessary presence of an assassin. Including an assassin in the story distracted from the tense drama that was unfolding.
The diversion caused by the assassin was like watching a movie and receiving a phone call just as the tension was coming to a peak.

While all of the investigators are jumping to conclusions, the author keeps you informed of the list child’s whereabouts so no real mystery. There are many exciting sequences and the tension is high. Reader is very good even if he’s a little weak with the female voices.

Boring waste of time.
Revisado: 09-22-22
This novel reads like the diary of a high school sophomore feminist. The men are depicted grubby, weird, weak and without character. All the women are overachieving superheroes.
The killer is obvious from the first introduction. This all could be forgiven if the story wasn’t so mundane. Ten hours of self congratulatory set up, five minutes of actual excitement as the killer is revealed and the Ahhh! Another hour of boredom to close it out.
