The book seemed promising at first, but the storyline was pretty bad. The quippy one liners ceased to be funny after the storyline plummeted. Pretty disappointing.

Not possible! It's the Bible!

I love Christian movies and stories, but the problem is the melodrama - overacting and the constant music always takes away from the stories. As much as I appreciate actors playing the parts of the Bible characters, the overacting and constant music drives me nuts. This version is great because it's just narrated and at least for me, I'm getting a lot more from the story, able to listen for longer periods, and not getting annoyed by all the background noise.
If you like the acting and music, this isn't the version for you, but if you're like me and just want the story, then this is probably a good version for you.

What did you like best about this story?
The fact that it was the audio Bible.
What aspect of the narrators’s performance would you have changed?
Some of the actors are way too dramatic. I like acting, but it's like they are going overboad.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment. Christian movies tend to do this too...use music when it's not needed and it literally irritated me. I couldn't listen to it anymore and I really wanted to.

If you could sum up Thirteen in three words, what would they be?
It's a great book and the narrator is good except someone needs to let her know Clayton has the Louisiana drawl...not Elena. Disappointing when you've been reading the entire series and you know the characters. Otherwise she does a good job.
