This is the first Salman Rushdie novel I have completed (it will not be my last). It took me a while to get into it, but once I was in I was hooked. Its light, funny, and my god the range of the author goes for miles. A real artist of the word.

The narrator is the best I’ve ever heard. He makes the novel come alive and does wonderful impersonations.

I wouldn’t recommend this to everyone, but if your bored, and looking for something to stir the imagination give this a go.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. Shafak weaves a story of 3 characters each dealing with the identity of being Muslim. All come from different background but dealing with the same problems. She shows in a remarkable way that being Muslim is not a homogenous idea. She exhibits superbly that people have multiple moving identities.

What other book might you compare Three Daughters of Eve to and why?

Mmm I don't think I have come across a book quite like it. It would be in the range of Paul Coelho meets Rumi.

Which character – as performed by Alix Dunmore – was your favorite?

Shirin. The Iranian Feminist.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me think. It made me wonder about things we don't say and things we do say. It helped me to realise that the idea of being Muslim can dominate a persons life like a wild fire taking over a forest. However, Muslim people too have lives that are relative and intersecting with many other demands.

Any additional comments?

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. The author shows careful consideration to Islam and the rationale behind Western fears concerning Islam.

To me he is an excellent debater that exhibits philosophical soundness over many of his explanations.

Tariq Ramadan is aninteresting person to follow. A very intelligent human being.

This is a story of courage and identity. It's about a journey of becoming comfortable in our being and whoever we choose to be.

I thought her personal account was interesting. The book is quite deep and introspective, and sometimes a bit shallow and mundane.

I enjoyed listening to her. She has a great narrating voice.

Sometimes I think the scenes are over dramatized.

Nice book, worth the listen ✌️

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. The narrators tone is exquisite and makes the story more interesting. The subject matter is provocative and presents several ironical ideas that highlights the paradoxical nature of our morality. The audiobook keeps you fixated and is separated into seven neat chapters. You'd probably easily finish this in a week or day.
