Historia
Only 10 percent of the world’s millionaires are women, making it difficult for women to wield the economic power that will create lasting equality. Whatever is stopping you from having seven figures in the bank - whether it’s shaky confidence, knowledge gaps when it comes to wealth-building tactics, imposter syndrome, a janky mindset about money (it’s okay, we’ve all been there!), or simply not knowing where to begin - this book shows you how to clear every obstacle in your way, show up, and glow up.

Great Read and Very Practical
Revisado: 09-18-22
Even though this book is targeted for women, I really enjoyed it. It was informative, practical and gave me lots to think about as an aspiring millionaire, a fellow business lawyer, and a even as a husband. I've already recommended it to a number of my friends.

Historia
This is an easily digestible argument about what rights we have, what rights Republicans are trying to take away, and how to stop them. Mystal explains how to protect the rights of women and people of color instead of cowering to the absolutism of gun owners and bigots. He explains the legal way to stop everything from police brutality to political gerrymandering, just by changing a few judges and justices. He strips out all of the fancy jargon conservatives like to hide behind and lays bare the truth of their project to keep America forever tethered to its slaveholding past.

Great Discussion on the Constitution
Revisado: 07-03-22
If you're interested in the US Constitution, this book is enlightening, practical, and hilarious. Definitely a great read to make you think about how to move forward in our society with the flawed document we all know as our Constitution.

Historia
The New York Times Magazine’s award-winning “1619 Project” issue reframed our understanding of American history by placing slavery and its continuing legacy at the center of our national narrative. This new book substantially expands on that work, weaving together 18 essays that explore the legacy of slavery in present-day America with 36 poems and works of fiction that illuminate key moments of oppression, struggle, and resistance.

Great Book as Expected!
Revisado: 02-14-22
Just like the special edition published in the New York Times in 2019, this book doesn't disappoint. The book gives a historical perspective from the viewpoint of African Americans and shows the historical and present injustices the community faces. A must read for anyone interested in American history, especially as it has related to African Americans.

Very Compelling Story
Revisado: 12-30-21
This is a must read for those concerned with the future of the US, especially policy makers. Gives a fairly unbiased assessment of where the US is as a nation, how it got to its current position as compared to former empires, and how its relationship with a quickly rising China will be one of the biggest issues in the near future.

Historia
In 1967, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., isolated himself from the demands of the civil rights movement, rented a house in Jamaica with no telephone, and labored over his final manuscript. In this prophetic work, which was unavailable for more than 10 years, he lays out his thoughts, plans, and dreams for America's future, including the need for better jobs, higher wages, decent housing, and quality education. With a universal message of hope that continues to resonate, King demanded an end to global suffering.

Revisado: 11-09-20
I've been in Houston over 20 years and I've enjoyed getting a history lesson on the city, along with a forewarning on the necessary changes needed to ensure its future. Particularly, Houston's need to address education in a meaningful way, to enable its business community to continue to thrive.

Historia
Behind today's headlines of billionaires taking over our government is a secretive political establishment with long, deep, and troubling roots. The capitalist radical right has been working not simply to change who rules but to fundamentally alter the rules of democratic governance. But billionaires did not launch this movement; a white intellectual in the embattled Jim Crow South did.

Historia
Why is America living in an age of profound economic inequality? Why, despite the desperate need to address climate change, have even modest environmental efforts been defeated again and again? Why have protections for employees been decimated? Why do hedge-fund billionaires pay a far lower tax rate than middle-class workers? The conventional answer is that a popular uprising against "big government" led to the rise of a broad-based conservative movement.

Historia
This searing story of slavery and freedom in the Chesapeake reveals the pivot in the nation’s path between the founding and civil war. Frederick Douglass recalled that slaves living along Chesapeake Bay longingly viewed sailing ships as "freedom’s swift-winged angels." In 1813 those angels appeared in the bay as British warships coming to punish the Americans for declaring war on the empire. Drawn from new sources, Alan Taylor's riveting narrative re-creates the events that inspired black Virginians, haunted slaveholders, and set the nation on a new and dangerous course.
