I bought this book because I loved the Blessings, Georgia series. This takes place in Bordens Gap, Tennessee, and I hope it's the first in another series. Katie is such a resilient character, and Sam's love shines. I've listened to this book several times. Now it's like a cherished friend. Familiar and new.

Miranda Chase and her little band continue to solve the big problems in their pursuit of the "Why" behind air disasters. Buchman continues this series begun so well in DRONE. I'm a longtime Buckman fan and I'm really happy to see him taking this turn.

This was a great story with wonderful characters. All of the primary and secondary characters were fully realized. Johnny was in touch with his emotions because that's how his single dad taught him to be. Izzy found the joy in life because that's what her single mom's example taught her to be. Both characters needed the other to complete them. Looking forward to Slow Burn and any more titles in this series.

I've been a fan of Evan Currie for quite some time now. I thoroughly enjoy his books. I'm so glad he chose to publish for himself rather than wait to be chosen by a capricious publisher. His work is excellent. This book is no exception. The second in the series, it ramps up the tension yet several more notches. I'm on to the next book.

Enjoyed the story. Yes, the Wherlockes and the Vaughns are eccentric, but they are far more. This series highlights the unconditional love within an extended family. New family members (spouses, step- and adopted children) receive the same love and support as if blood. Every story in the series has been different except for this element. That is a welcome similarity.

the absolute worst voice performance.

What disappointed you about The Rock?
The vocal performance was terrible.it was read as if the guy was just worried about enunciating.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Jane Austen.
What didn’t you like about Martin Gollery’s performance?
Wooden. Staccato. Flat affect. Didn't edit mispronounced and stumbled words. He just corrected himself and went on. No emotion. No voice change for dialog or characterization. If I ever am tempted to purchase an audiobook and discover it's performed by Martin Gollery, I will firmly decide NOT to buy it.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Rock?
I didn't finish listening. It was too painful. The story failed to compensate for the performance shortcomings.
