This is a great listen. I couldn't stop listening! The narrators were superb, and there was plenty of suspense from the beginning.

Historia
Pony has been passed from owner to owner for longer than he can remember. Fed up, he busts out and goes on a cross-country mission to reunite with Penny, the little girl whom he was separated from and hasn’t seen in years. Penny, now an adult, is living an ordinary life when she gets a knock on her door and finds herself in handcuffs, accused of murder and whisked back to the place she grew up. Her only comfort when the past comes back to haunt her are the memories of her precious, rebellious pony.

this book is such a light, breezy, and funny read I wasn’t sure how a book where a pony tries to solve a murder would go, but i loved it! the narrators were SO fantastic. I was grinning like a little kid hearing the different voices and voice modulations. such a fantastic listen!

Historia
Geoffrey Lushington, Mayor of Marlow, dies suddenly during a Town Council meeting. When traces of aconite—also known as the queen of poisons—are found in his coffee cup, the police realize he was murdered. But who did it? And why? The police bring Judith, Suzie and Becks in to investigate as Civilian Advisors right from the start, so they have free rein to interview suspects and follow the evidence to their heart’s content, which is perfect because Judith has no time for rules and standard procedure.

A bit of a letdown :/
Revisado: 06-23-24
I really like this series. But this third book didn’t feel nearly as fun compared to the other two. It was still enjoyable, but not as much as the other two. The murder mystery was clever and it is very clear Thorogood but in a lot of thought into subtle details and clues. However, the backdrop of the stories of Judith, Suzie and Becks felt boring and dull. Also solving the murder seemed too convenient. Something isn’t quite the same, and I don’t know what..

Historia
When editor Susan Ryeland is given the manuscript of Alan Conway's latest novel, she has no reason to think it will be much different from any of his others. After working with the best-selling crime writer for years, she's intimately familiar with his detective, Atticus Pünd, who solves mysteries disturbing sleepy English villages. An homage to queens of classic British crime such as Agatha Christie and Dorothy Sayers, Alan's traditional formula has proved hugely successful.

One of the best whodunnits of all time. I’d highly recommend tuning in. It’s certainly long, but will suck you right in until the very end…

Historia
James Whitby, sentenced to death for the murder of prominent lawyer and former Quit India activist Fareed Mazumdar, is less than two weeks from a date with the gallows. In a last-ditch attempt to save his son, Whitby's father, arch-colonialist, Charles Whitby, forces a new investigation into the killing. The investigation leads Inspector Persis Wadia of the Bombay Police to the old colonial capital of Calcutta, where, with the help of Scotland Yard criminalist Archie Blackfinch, she uncovers a possible link to a second case.

Historia
Meet our heroine, Mo. She’s every dyke’s dream—or so she’s been told by her kind and supportive friends. She’s shy but passionate, politically aware, as committed to her egalitarian all-womyn’s softball team as she is to her volunteer work at the Gay and Lesbian Community Center. So why can’t she find a girlfriend? Could it possibly be because she’s more judgmental than Gertrude Stein and more self-sabotaging than Bojack Horseman?

An auditory delight
Revisado: 06-23-23
I didn’t know what to expect based on the title, but I finished this book in one sitting. It’s incredibly fun, and it’s evident that the narrators have put in SO much hard work into this. There’s romance, there’s drama, there’s wit, and conflict too! What more can you ask for from a book? Mo and her many oddities made me chuckle!

Interesting cases but a problematic detective
Revisado: 06-16-23
Vaseem Khan has a penchant for good storytelling- no doubt about that. The murders themselves hold the reader’s attention, as they cheer Persis on in her journey to make progress in finding clues. But Persis is extremely disappointing as a character. It’s almost amusing to see that she undergoes no growth, sticking to her problematic ways of failing to communicate with those whom she loves the most, and instead, subjecting them to mistreatment and immature anger. After a while (collectively looking across the three books in the series), it’s boring and enervating. Nonetheless, I look forward to Vaseem’s next book in the series…

A wonderful listen
Revisado: 12-26-21
Probably the best book to come out of the pandemic. Immensely accessible, and simple yet profound. Would highly recommend! We all are weak, frail and vulnerable in our own ways. But the collective experience of sharing one’s stories about our journeys navigating the Anthropocene, sharing our vulnerabilities, and working together to make life a beautiful place for us all- is truly what reflects humanity’s strength. This book will make you feel many emotions, but it will remind you about our collective strength at some point, and leave you with hope.
