Historia
Ten years ago, Abigail Lovett fell into a job she loves, managing The Passage Inn, a cozy, upscale resort nestled in the North Carolina mountain town of Cutter’s Pass. Cutter’s Pass is best known for its outdoor offerings—rafting and hiking, with access to the Appalachian trail by way of a gorgeous waterfall—and its mysterious history. As the book begins, the string of unsolved disappearances that has haunted the town is once again thrust into the spotlight when journalist Landon West, who was staying at the inn to investigate the story of the vanishing trail, then disappears himself.

This book focused on the main characters inner voice, which led to a lot of memories and thoughts versus plot. I usually enjoy a mix of both perspectives, but this book focused too much in the inner thoughts for me to be entertained.

Excellent Book

I really enjoyed this book and it’s performance. I didn’t find the background sounds distracting - in fact it really drew me into the story. Excellent cast as well!

Disappointing
Revisado: 02-10-22
One of the characters in this book is truly insufferable (Meredith). The book started out strong and I had high hopes, especially with so many excellent narrators I often listen to, but the story really puttered out. None of the twists surprised me, and with less than two hours left in the audiobook, I’ve decided to stop. Really not it.

The cliffhanger!!!!!
Revisado: 02-19-20
Fantastic book, another one of my favorites from Callie Rose. The entire series is so good, and wow, the cliffhanger made me immediately download the next book so I could read. Really well written characters, as I've written in other reviews, I think is a strong suit of Callie's writing. Such a fun, smutty, addictive read. Definitely recommended!!! 5 stars all around!
I enjoyed Amanda' narration and would definitely listen to any other books narrated by her.

And they want me. I’m not sure why, since they all seem to hate me. The Princes are gorgeous, flawless, and cruel. They own this town, and they’re determined to own me, too.

Addictive Book
Revisado: 02-19-20
This series is addictive and my absolute favorite from Callie Rose. The characters completely grow on you and I love the mystery element (vague to avoid spoilers)! Each character was really well developed, and I really believed the Kings friendship circle, and they were really easy to tell apart - which shows how well developed they were, with their quirks/family life/personal struggles. This book is totally steamy, but in addition to that, the characters grow throughout the three books and it's so fun to re-read them and see how far they've grown. Really good mystery element, really good plot. Perfect length. 5 stars all around.
I really enjoyed Kasi's narration, she added a lot to the characters and I was able to tell them apart really easily! Would absolutely listen to another book narrated by Kasi!

Neil Josten is the newest addition to the Palmetto State University Exy team. He's short, he's fast, he's got a ton of potential - and he's the runaway son of the murderous crime lord known as the Butcher. Signing a contract with the PSU Foxes is the last thing a guy like Neil should do. The team is high profile, and he doesn't need sports crews broadcasting pictures of his face around the nation. His lies will hold up only so long under this kind of scrutiny, and the truth will get him killed.

turn back now
Revisado: 03-12-19
This. Book. Is. Horrendous. The characters are awful, the plot is awful, the handling of serious themes (violence, physical abuse, drug abuse, homelessness, orphanage) are handled horribly. These themes are treated as though they're edgy personality traits, as though they make these misfit boys desirable and cool and alternative. The author is so clearly trying to make this sports team of reject-criminal boys edgy, and it shows, and it is truly awful. The writing is so simplistic I thought this was a middle-grade book, not YA, and yet the themes are so dark and handled so poorly it really could be problematic. This is just the worst book ever.
The narrator is fine, I would be fine listening to another book he narrates, but it's just unfortunate he had to narrate this awful mess. Don't do this to yourself.

But when an email falls into the wrong hands, his secret is at risk of being thrust into the spotlight. Now Simon is actually being blackmailed: If he doesn't play wingman for class clown Martin, his sexual identity will become everyone's business. Worse, the privacy of Blue, the pen name of the boy he's been emailing with, will be compromised.

Revisado: 04-22-18
Any additional comments?
I made the mistake of seeing the movie before listening to the book. The book has its good moments - it is nice to see the relationship between Simon and Blue growing and to have more backstory. However, I couldn't stand Leah in the book. It is a good listen, not my favorite, but I would recommend the movie over the book.

When you listen to this audiobook, you will make many assumptions. You will assume you are listening to a story about a jealous ex-wife. You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement - a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love. You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle. Assume nothing. Twisted and deliciously chilling, The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage - and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

Story is lackluster and predictable
Revisado: 04-14-18
Would you try another book from Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen and/or Julia Whelan?
I would definitely try another book read by Julia Whelan. She is a great narrator - she brings a lot of emotion and depth to her reading, and I can actually understand what she's saying. I made it as far as I did in this boring book because of her narration - she kept me going! As for the authors, I am not going to try another book of theirs.
What was most disappointing about Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen ’s story?
The plot is disappointing. (Spoilers ahead) It was obvious from the beginning that there was going to be a twist between Nelly/Vanessa. It was quite boring to me, and I wanted more excitement, like in Girl on the Train or Gone Girl. I read until the Nelly/Vanessa twist and couldn't bring myself to continue - and the twist didn't shock me. I made it about halfway through the story before giving up. I never write reviews, so it says a lot that I've taken the time to warn you about this boring book.
Any additional comments?
Overall the plot didn't excite me at all. If it weren't for the narrator, Julia Whelan, I don't think I would have kept past chapter 3 or 4. The twist wasn't all that exciting. Julia Whelan is a fantastic narrator and I am going to be looking for more books she has done!

Gripping!
Revisado: 02-23-18
This is incredible! Jennifer and Sam put a lot of work in, and you can tell by their approach to each “chapter” and the subject. I really felt as though I was getting an unbiased look at the murder. I loved the clips of audio - really made it feel like a documentary - and I appreciated their narration of some clips that were difficult to hear.
Their narration was fantastic and gripping. What an exciting (and sometimes frustrating) true story. Highly recommended!
