Historia
Billy Todd has always been different. Most people called him odd, and those were the nice people. Though he was born with a learning disability, Billy's parents never allowed him to consider himself disabled. Raised to be self-sufficient, Billy might not be as smart as some, but he was a lot smarter than people realized.

Redneck American Heaven
Revisado: 12-19-19
Where to start? Most of the population has been killed by a deadly virus, Billy Todd thinks he is the only one left in his small town. Turns out there are a few more, but not many. Not sure how getting rid of 90% or more of population leads to mass shortages of food and supplies. There are shortages after only 4 months. I mean, the average Walmart would have enough non perishable supplies for a family for a year or so. Plus lots of blankets, camping supplies etc. And this is Tennessee, not super extreme weather. However, once winter comes it is very severe and lots of snow. Reason according to Billy, with so many people gone, so few cars running, factories not running the Earth is getting colder! Really? In months!? Climate change wouldn’t have that much effect in such a short time. It’s not like there was a nuclear war or meteorite strike, this is just a whole lot of people dying in a short time.
Of course the community they set up gets right into traditional Southern Christian values. Men lead, women help, cook, clean, sew etc. And oh the guns! With those empty gun stores and army supplies this community has a great arsenal and doesn’t trust anyone else. And gotta love the earthy accent of the reader and the earthy “common sense” that is Billy’s wisdom. Good book to make fun of.

Politics?
Revisado: 10-08-19
Thought this was science fiction. Turns out it also contains a healthy dose of right wing politics. Wonder what Larry thinks about a certain person with immense wisdom who has golfed more in his first year than others in their entire presidency?

Historia
Eve Hardaway, newly single mother of one, is on a trip she’s long dreamed of - a rafting and hiking tour through the jungles and mountains of Oaxaca, in southern Mexico. Eve wanders off the trail, to a house in the distance with a menacing man in the yard beyond it, throwing machetes at a human-shaped target. Disturbed by the sight, Eve moves quickly and quietly back to her group, taking care to avoid being seen. As she creeps along, she finds a broken digital camera, marked with the name Teresa Hamilton.

Too stupid
Revisado: 10-19-17
Felt like this author was cruising on the popularity of books that villainize Muslims. The "bad" guy is this book is a Muslim, however, that does not come out until later. The "heroine" is able to overcome the bad guy with her "goodness?" I do not know. I enjoyed the book until the last 30%. Then, it became apparent that this was a book written with an agenda. Once the underlying theme was exposed I could have written the rest with out reading anything else. Good start, bad finish, let's work to get past these stereotypes

Historia
Thirteen-year-old Steven has a totally normal life (well, almost): he drums in the All-Star Jazz Band, has a crush on the hottest girl in school (who doesn’t know he’s alive), frequently finds himself sitting across from his school counselor (who bribes him with candy), and is constantly annoyed by his five-year-old brother, Jeffrey (who is cuter than cute). But when Jeffrey gets sick, Steven’s world is turned upside down as he is forced to deal with his brother’s illness, his parents’ attempts to keep the family in one piece, the band, overdue homework, girls, and of course, Dangerous Pie.

Teenage book
Revisado: 06-21-17
This book would be a good book for teens who have a family member with leukemia. It is a little preachy and the characters a little too wholesome but pretty good. Reveals some of the flaws of the US healthcare system.

Prosy at end
Revisado: 05-24-17
Started out good. I was enjoying it. The narrator was very verbose, but not too bad for first 2/3 of book. Last 1/3 of the book, he got way too verbose and prosy! Talk, talk, talk, I was waving my hands, get on with it! Could have cut out a lot of words in the last 1/3 of the book and it would have been better.

Relevant for 2016
Revisado: 12-03-16
This is a very accurate account of the fight that is featured in the movie of the same name. However, it goes into more detail with both sides of the conflict. The last chapter, where the author sums up his research into the battle and the causes and mistakes and strengths of the battle, is very enlightening. The battle story makes you care about the individuals involved and the summation helps put a perspective on the significance of the battle and what it represents. Very powerful. Given that this battle was in 1993 and we are still dealing with the turmoil in the Middle East it is very relevant for today.

Narcissistic but interesting
Revisado: 09-27-16
The actual story is interesting. However, he makes the mistake of having no faults! And his family is also pretty faultless, and the dancers he works with work hard and never complain! No prima donnas in either the Chinese school of dance or the Houston Ballet.
Too perfect for me! I started shaking my head at it. I don't think anyone is as perfect as he claims to be. But still and interesting insight into life in China.

Unbelievably bad!
Revisado: 08-28-16
This is such a ridiculous book! Improbable happenings, coincidences that are unbelievable,
actions by the main characters that are beyond foolhardy, knowledge attributed to the main characters that is too unlikely, 2 people shooting it out with pistols against 25 or so well armed professionals and winning... I could go on and on! This is the last Clive Cussler I will gamble on. Just too stupid!

too Stupid!
Revisado: 08-20-16
A nice premise to start with, ruined by the unrealistic portrayal of the characters. Too much coincidence. I mean come on!!!! Having the presidents son find a pilot that has ejected from a high speed jet in China? when they both started out near the bombed out place and the pilot ejected several minutes later? Did he circle around? Did his plane stall?
And this is only one of about a dozen improbable things that happen.

Not worth it even though it was Free
Revisado: 08-02-16
This was really bad. Insipid, unbelievable, uninspiring just plain dumb! Really, the guy won the world series then quit baseball to spend time with his fiance and planned a wedding with 5 star guests from all over the world in 2 weeks. Oh, and did I mention that it was a double wedding? And rock stars from around the world were able to get free to preform at the wedding. Best part, since I got this 2 hour story free, I now know that I never have to waste a single credit on books by this author! Yeah!
