Failure to Launch
Revisado: 10-29-23
Don't waste a credit. Absolutely frustrating. He is not here anymore and from reading this, he had never appreciated the health he was born with and abused his body so bad he nearly died many times. He smoked 3 packs a day and drank and drugged to such excess his body literally fell apart and he still used. All because he didn't get the attention he wanted as a kid. His colon exploded and he aspirated liquid feces into his lungs, fell into a coma and by a miracle, recovered and he still used. And smoked. He has great family and friends and my heart goes out to them. They have been through hell.
Edit to add: The ghouls who provided him with dangerous amounts of ketamine knew what they were doing and should rot in prison. He was very troubled and they took his money and literally gave him the tools to end himself. What a waste.

Historia
Talking about death and dying is considered taboo in polite company, and even in the medical field. Our ideas about dying are confusing at best: Will our memories flash before our eyes? Regrets consume our thoughts? Does a bright light appear at the end of a tunnel? For most people, it will be a slower process, one eased with preparedness, good humor, and a bit of faith. At the forefront of changing attitudes around palliative care is hospice nurse Hadley Vlahos, who shows that end-of-life care can teach us just as much about how to live as it does about how we die.

They were the last great band of the '60s and the first great band of the '70s. They rose, somewhat unpromisingly, from the ashes of the Yardbirds to become one of the biggest-selling rock bands of all time - and eventually paid the price for it, with disaster, drug addiction, and death.

Who made the phone call that got HBO to launch The Sopranos? What’s the significance of all those eggs? And, what the hell ever happened to the Russian? Michael Imperioli, Steve Schirripa, and the entire cast and crew of The Sopranos have all the answers - and they’re revealing where all the bodies are buried.

Nothing new if you listened to the podcast. Don't waste a credit. I could be wrong but it seems like the other narrators imitate the guests.. It's jarring. I heard literally everything on the podcast via YouTube. It's free. I recommend getting The Sopranos Sessions. They did fantastic job and the narration is much better.

Bacon. McDonalds. Cinnabon. Hot Pockets. Kale. Stand-up comedian and author Jim Gaffigan has made his career rhapsodizing over the most treasured dishes of the American diet (“choking on bacon is like getting murdered by your lover”) and decrying the worst offenders (“kale is the early morning of foods”).

Retread of lame comedy routines
Revisado: 01-12-21
This is a shameless money grab. It's all of his stand up routines about food and a little extra thrown in. If you have seen any of his specials, skip this book. He hates half of the country and didn't reveal it until he had made millions. I can't return this book because I didn't find out about his lying about who he was. He isn't the Catholic family man he claims to be. He was apolitical until recently and now supports people pushing partial birth end of life for babies. Now that he made millions being the non political comic, the mask fell.

Historia
In An Irish Country Courtship, after less than a year, young Barry Laverty, M.B., is settling in to the village, with only a few months to go before he becomes a full partner in the practice. He's looking forward to becoming a fixture in the community, until an unexpected romantic reversal gives him second thoughts. Will he truly be happy tending to routine coughs and colds for the rest of his career? After all, even when a more challenging case comes along, like a rare tropical disease, all he can do is pass it on to a qualified specialist or big-city hospital.

If You Can't Stand The Barry Character, Skip This
Revisado: 03-11-20
Spoiler Alert ⚠
I adore this series but why does Patrick Taylor make one is his main characters so unlikable? Barry Laverty is unbearable in most of this book. He got dumped after a very brief relationship and he goes on and on and drowns in self pity. Several times in the book, Barry and the narrator treat his minor loss with the deaths of people's spouses. It is so annoying. It's a great series but there are entire chapters that you should skip because of the whiny, self pity of Barry.

Funny, but just like Jim Gaffigan
Revisado: 07-14-19
It has really funny parts. It is really, really similar to Jim Gaffigan's book. I could have done without the man bashing/women worship parts and the obligatory Trump hating comments. It didn't belong in there. If you can ignore that, you will like the book.

Historia
While the Battle of Berlin in 1945 is widely known, the horrific story of the Halbe Kessel remains largely untold. In April 1945, victorious Soviet forces encircled 80,000 men of the German 9th Army in the Halbe area, South of Berlin, together with many thousands of German women and children. The German troops, desperate to avoid Soviet capture, battled furiously to break out toward the West, where they could surrender to the comparative safety of the Americans.
