Compelling and Insightful Podcast

After completing the HBO series "The Gilded Age", I wanted to learn more about the time period and found this podcast. I caught up on the entire series in about 2 weeks. Each episode covers a new topic about the era and many of the topics are completely new to me (like trash service - who would have thought that trash service could be interesting?). The guest scholars are interesting and insightful. Michael Patrick Cullinane is amazing. I wish I was able to sit in one of his history classes. I am truly grateful to this podcast for unleashing my inner history nerd!

fascinating story told by the subject

Honest, Incredible Tale

As a child in 1980's America, we were taught that Russians and the KGB were "bad guys". This story gives a completely different, humanized perspective. Jack Barsky tells his truth and it is an incredible story. One does not typically equate emotion with KGB agents, but Mr. Barsky's story is filled with it. Love, guilt, regret. Truly a remarkable tale and worth the listen.

The Thin Man is a classic story with witty dialogue and a twisty plot. The narration to this story was so-so. If you love the story, check out the moving starring William Powell and Myrna Loy!
