Historia
They call them wayward girls. Loose girls. Girls who grew up too fast. And they’re sent to Wellwood House in St. Augustine, Florida, where unwed mothers are hidden by their families to have their babies in secret, to give them up for adoption, and most important of all, to forget any of it ever happened. Everything the girls eat, every moment of their waking day, and everything they’re allowed to talk about is strictly controlled by adults who claim they know what’s best for them.

Suspenseful, humorous horror
Revisado: 01-31-25
Excellent character development, which made me care about what happened to them. And, a lot does happen. There’s a lot of gore, but not too much in my opinion. The story, weaving and good narration for outweighs any gore that might turn away those some that are squeamish. Highly recommend.

Glad it was free
Revisado: 01-17-25
Not enough background on what happened to set the current events in motion until the very abrupt end. Even though it was free, I’m really annoyed that I spent the time listening to it when I had other books waiting that I’m sure will be much better. Overall, the dramatic voice reading was the best part about it. Too bad the story couldn’t keep up with the excellent voice acting.

Lazy writing from a usually good author
Revisado: 11-05-24
The story was hard to follow. I found I cared little for the characters. The most developed and described character seemed to be the unrepentant bad guy.
Also, I’m no prude, but the love scenes read more like 50 Shades of Gray without moving the plot along or making said relationship more interesting. I’m glad I got this on sale or I’d be even more disappointed than I already am. Do not

Historia
Fresh out of rehab, Mallory Quinn takes a job as a babysitter for Ted and Caroline Maxwell. She is to look after their five-year-old son, Teddy. Mallory immediately loves it. She has her own living space, goes out for nightly runs, and has the stability she craves. And she sincerely bonds with Teddy, a sweet, shy boy who is never without his sketchbook and pencil. His drawings are the usual fare: trees, rabbits, balloons. But one day, he draws something different: a man in a forest, dragging a woman’s lifeless body.

Twisty, twist, great!
Revisado: 10-31-24
I can’t believe I didn’t see some of the twists coming. They were so surprising, and the way the story unspooled kept me listening almost nonstop!
The author makes you care what happens to the characters, no matter if they are “good”’or “bad” people.
Looking forward to reading more from this author.
Also, kudos to the narrator for the superbly voiced characters. Just the right amount of tension in the voice acting and the writing itself.

Historia
Buckhead isn’t a place you live, it’s a place you survive. And that applies even to the wealthy housewives that have it all. Fancy cars, designer clothes, and daily salon appointments aren’t nearly enough to keep them fulfilled and happy. Because in this town, privilege and opulence go hand in hand with betrayal and revenge. Jenny, the owner of Glow, an exclusive membership-only beauty salon, knows that better than anyone, because she knows everything about these housewives—down to each individual strand of hair.

Fab Characters and Story
Revisado: 10-11-24
The characters were brought to life though both the author’s descriptive words and on point narration. The combination creates characters you love and those you love to hate. I listened to this as much as possible, finishing it within 24 hrs. I can’t believe it was in the audible “free” catalogue. Definitely worth a credit if you like a twisty, dramatic, catty, loving, engaging book.

Historia
A tense, gripping psychological thriller, with Hitchcockian overtones, perfect for fans of Gillian Flynn, Sophie Hannah and Rosamund Lupton. Lara Finch is living a lie. Everyone thinks she has a happy life in Cornwall, married to the devoted Sam, but in fact she is desperately bored. When she is offered a new job that involves commuting to London by sleeper train, she meets Guy and starts an illicit affair. But then Lara vanishes from the night train without a trace.

The Sleeper was misnamed as it kept me up wondering what would happen next. I cared about the characters and how the different lives intertwined for both good and bad. And of course, there is the always wonderful narration of Imogen Church. Recommend. 4.5 stars overall.

Ariel’s gut says it can’t be real. But she goes to the tree anyway. She has to. Nobody shows.

Good story w/satisfying twists
Revisado: 09-01-24
The story was developed well, without any slow parts that made me want to pause and go do something else.I finished the book within 24 hrs. In addition to the story, being engaging, the author made sure we cared about the characters enough to keep listening, by fleshing out their histories out and back stories. The narrator was also excellent. My only gripe was with the voice they used when being a four year-old child, who was in a whiny state at that point. . However, that might’ve been the whiney kid thing and not a narrator thing.
In any case, that was a small and only annoyance, and overall not worth passing up this big, exciting and satisfying story. Highly recommend. 5+ ⭐️!

Twisty, turn-y, slow burn-y
Revisado: 06-30-24
While I enjoyed the book overall, plot (with aforementioned twists and such), character development and an exceptional surprise, the pace needed picking up in the middle.
There was a bit too much lingering on first world, “one percenter” problems that boiled down to the character’s plain, old boredom.
And I’m sure you can understand how boring it can be to listen at length to how bored a person of means is.
All of that being said, it was a good listen, a great sale deal and the narration was excellent.

It’s the opening night of The Manor, the newest and hottest luxury resort, and no expense, small or large, has been spared. The infinity pool sparkles; the “Manor Mule” cocktail (grapefruit, ginger, vodka, and a dash of CBD oil) is being poured with a heavy hand. Everyone is wearing linen.
