Underwhelming..
Revisado: 01-06-25
Not sure what I expected but I was a little disappointed. For those into lots of action and gore, there's no doubt it's a fascinating listen and extremely well read by the different characters portrayed. I found it a little tiresome eventually as it just went on and on with the same or similar circumstances. I think I'd hoped for a tale with more plot as to how the undead came into being and how they transpired. More details as to where and how were the beginnings of it all? Some readers will love it, but it was a bit of a miss for me.

Historia
"I believe there is another man inside every man, a stranger...." writes Wilfred Leland James in the early pages of the riveting confession that makes up "1922", the first in this pitch-black quartet of mesmerizing tales from Stephen King. For James, that stranger is awakened when his wife, Arlette, proposes selling off the family homestead and moving to Omaha, setting in motion a gruesome train of murder and madness.

Great book!

Where does Full Dark, No Stars rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This ranks up there with the best of them and did not disappoint. Stephen King's stories are all different-some true to life and others fantastical but all of them collectively make a wonderful read. The voices did the job of relating well to the characters and each story was wildly captivating. I couldn't stop listening!

Historia
In this riveting landmark autobiography, which reads like a novel, Academy Award and Emmy winner Louis Gossett, Jr., masterfully transports us to 1840s New York; Washington, D.C.; and Louisiana to experience the kidnapping and 12 years of bondage of Solomon Northup, a free man of color. Twelve Years a Slave, published in 1853, was an immediate bombshell in the national debate over slavery leading up to the Civil War.

Where does Twelve Years a Slave rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I would rate this audio version 8 out of 10. The story is quite incredible-I had seen the movie so knew what to expect but felt the narrator (Loius Gossett Jnr.) was perhaps a little off in the retelling of it-my personal opinion as it took me a while to get into it.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I saw the movie which was great then thought the audio book would be fantastic. Unfortunately for me, this was not the case; I found the audio version hard to follow and difficult to figure out what was going on for much of the time.
Would you recommend Drive to your friends? Why or why not?
No I wouldn't.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Paul Michael Garcia?
Yes, the narrator was good.

Disappointing at most
Revisado: 04-14-15
Would you try another book from the authors and/or the narrators?
The voices reading the different stories were pretty good but the stories themselves rather disappointing and only one or two enjoyable ones. My partner also read it and was not impressed.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
After going through the book the ending was as expected and didn't amount to much.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Not bad in some stories, quite irritating in others.
Do you think The Best American Erotica 1997 (Unabridged Selections) needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I would hope ANY follow-up would be an improvement.
