Historia
A Little Life follows four college classmates—broke, adrift, and buoyed only by their friendship and ambition—as they move to New York in search of fame and fortune. While their relationships, which are tinged by addiction, success, and pride, deepen over the decades, the men are held together by their devotion to the brilliant, enigmatic Jude, a man scarred by an unspeakable childhood trauma. A hymn to brotherly bonds and a masterful depiction of love in the twenty-first century, Hanya Yanagihara’s stunning novel is about the families we are born into, and those that we make for ourselves.

Friendships and heartbreak
Revisado: 03-25-25
The story was very compelling. The author told the story from each character’s perspective, giving readers a true sense of their individual complexities.
The tragic circumstances behind Jude‘s inability to love himself enough to allow others to love him as well were heartbreaking. A trail of triumph, love, heartache, and tragedy seamlessly kept readers engaged throughout the whole story.
I enjoyed the writers descriptive way of taking readers on a trip to all the places traveled throughout the story. The narrator‘s voice was very helpful also in telling this eloquently intelligent tale of four very unique and complex friends. This feels like the makings of a very awesome movie series.

No one expects the police to knock on the door of the million-dollar two-story home of the perfect cul-de-sac housewife. Lara is convicted of thirty-two felonies and becomes inmate S32179. Interesting
Revisado: 01-30-25
I found the story to be interesting written from the perspective of a former drug addict and thief. I appreciated that the writer told the story of the Journey to self forgiveness and redemption without placing blame on others or denying accountability.

Historia
Felise is not the kind of woman to cheat on her husband - especially with her best friend's man. But after one perfect storm of a night, it happened... and she can hardly believe it herself. To top it off, when she woke up in the morning, she found that the man to whom she guiltily made passionate love died of a heart attack overnight. Felise, who is a nurse and a good citizen at that, leaves the hotel room without reporting his death.

Edge of the seat
Revisado: 03-24-24
Great story and the narration brought the characters to life. My only negative was that the Sabrina character was not included in the finale, but it seems like there will be a part two coming.

Historia
It’s the summer of 2019, and Professor Pi Suleman is a Black man from Memphis with a lot to endure - not only as a Black man in Trump’s America but in his hard-earned career as an adjunct professor. Pi is constantly forced to bite his tongue in the face of one of his tenured colleague’s prejudices and microaggressions. At the same time, he’s being blackmailed by a powerful professor who threatens to claim he has assaulted her, when in fact the truth is just the opposite, trapping him in a he-said-she-said with a white woman that, in this society, Pi knows he will never win.

I love the story and the characters. EJD never disappoints! I’ve enjoyed almost all of his work and this one was great as expected.

Love the book
Revisado: 02-12-23
I loved the book and thought I’d try the audiobook but the narration was a bit rough, the male voice was distracting. I do love all E. Lynn Harris books, he’s an awesome story teller.
