Historia
Trauma can result not only from catastrophic events such as abuse, violence, or loss of loved ones, but from natural disasters and everyday incidents like auto accidents, medical procedures, divorce, or even falling off a bicycle. At the core of this book is the understanding of how trauma is imprinted on the body, brain, and spirit—often resulting in anxiety, nightmares, depression, physical illnesses, addictions, hyperactivity, and aggression.

Great book to listen to. Both content wise and the narrator’s voice. It was music to the ear.

Thank God for the narrator. That’s the way one does it. I wish audible would have him read more.
Thank you

Historia
What makes us happy? What makes us sad? How do we come to feel a sense of enthusiasm? What fills us with lust, anger, fear, or tenderness? Traditional behavioral and cognitive neuroscience have yet to provide satisfactory answers. The Archaeology of Mind presents an affective neuroscience approach - which takes into consideration basic mental processes, brain functions, and emotional behaviors that all mammals share - to locate the neural mechanisms of emotional expression. It reveals - for the first time - the deep neural sources of our values and basic emotional feelings.

Please have another narrator

OMG, the narrator’s voice and way of reading is so unpleasant. He is trying too hard to read well. And in the process, he sounds very awkward and loud. It comes across as if he is shouting. 😩
Alas, I really wanted to listen to it. I’ll give it try. I hope I can get past the voice. 🥺

Historia
Everyone knows that high IQ is no guarantee of success, happiness, or virtue, but until Emotional Intelligence, we could only guess why. Daniel Goleman's brilliant report from the frontiers of psychology and neuroscience offers startling new insight into our “two minds” - the rational and the emotional - and how they together shape our destiny. Through vivid examples, Goleman delineates the five crucial skills of emotional intelligence and shows how they determine our success in relationships, work, and even our physical well-being.

I found the narrative voice very inauthentic and heard to listen to. I wish there was another narration available. I really like to listen to the book. 😏

Historia
From the celebrated neurobiologist and primatologist, a landmark, genre-defining examination of human behavior, both good and bad, and an answer to the question: Why do we do the things we do? Sapolsky's storytelling concept is delightful but it also has a powerful intrinsic logic: He starts by looking at the factors that bear on a person's reaction in the precise moment a behavior occurs, and then hops back in time from there, in stages, ultimately ending up at the deep history of our species and its evolutionary legacy.

The narrator’s tone of voice and way of reading are so unpleasant that it makes the listening like a difficult task.
I hope audible will release another version with a more relatable narrator voice.
