If enthusiastic informed consent is important to you, this is not your book. It is an issue both between the main characters and one main character with other people. Parts of it are honestly difficult to get through and things between the main characters are very cringey if you have a conscience.

There are a lot of cringe-y "jokes" in the first half (at the expense of homeless people, mentally ill people and women). Then there's a lot of cringe-y "sex" scenes in the second half. The narrator takes awkward random long pauses in the middle of sentences and sounds like a creeper when he whispers "sexy" things...also the conflict in the story is waaayyy out of character for the love interest and comes out of left field. It's obviously forced by the writer. I have no idea how this book has such a high rating.

I hate mid scene cliffhangers

especially when I wasn't expecting a cliffhanger at all. I don't remember the other books in this series having cliffhangers. Honestly pretty peeveed. The next book isn't out either.

sooo cringey

The story, dialog, insta love and narration were very cringey. There were also a lot of like "a real man tops" vibes

Story very cheesy and rushed. Narration has a constant repetitive cadence no matter what is being said (outside of characters speaking aloud). Also editing issues. There are many repeated lines where outtakes weren't cut.

If you're going to write a story about drag queens

do a little research first. Drag queens only go by she/her pronouns when in drag. Unless they also happen to be trans they otherwise would be referred to by he/him pronouns and their regular names. Drag personas are not 24/7.
Other than that pet peeve that drove me nuts throughout the story it was a good book.

Riley Hart does it again

Riley Hart is always so good at creating characters you connect with and finding that balance between lighthearted moments and heavy life stuff so the book is still enjoyable but not all fluff.
John Solo is still John Solo. He's noy my favorite narrator but he does a good job and doesn't detract from the story. Usually it's a bit hard for me to tell characters apart with him but Sam has a southren accent so that helps. My only issue was it was hard to tell sometimes if a character was just thinking or saying something outloud

the main conflict in this is soo stupid. toxic monogamy bs. dont date a stripper if you cant handle dating a stripper 🙄🙄🙄 and ignoring someone instead of talking to them or at the very least telling them you need time is so immature. the conflict just didnt make sense and seemed out of character

Green is not a primary color

Okay this is super nit picky but a graphic artist would not say red blue and -green- are primary colors. Someone needed a better proof reader. It shows with details being repeated frequently too.
Over all a good book though!

I have a huge pet peeve with queer books following the heteronormative/misogynistic belief that penetrative sex is more significant/intimate than other sexual acts...also the MC spends the first half of the book talking about being vers and fantasizing about both topping and bottoming with Cooper then he only tops 🙄 (with no discussion as to Cooper's preferences)

otherwise its a pretty typical mix of sons friend & boss/intern tropes. the narrator does a good job of making me like the characters.
