Historia
"No killing Goblins." So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours. It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

slow burn in the best way
Revisado: 03-24-25
there is so much world building and character growth, but it's never slow, or boring, or repetitive. I'm hooked.

wow
Revisado: 09-20-24
I stayed up late several nights to finish this series. We have language, philosophy, politics, poetry, murder mystery, sci Fi world building, and near death escapes. we have different types of love, and growth, and death of old ideas. we have birth of new ideas, and subversion. this is so good.

Historia
Amina al-Sirafi should be content. After a storied and scandalous career as one of the Indian Ocean’s most notorious pirates, she’s survived backstabbing rogues, vengeful merchant princes, several husbands, and one actual demon to retire peacefully with her family to a life of piety, motherhood, and absolutely nothing that hints of the supernatural.

fun story, thrilling characters!
Revisado: 07-21-23
I loved this book! it's a fun historical fiction with well rounded characters, a loving "twist" (I hesitate to call it a twist because it's more character development), supernatural involvement that's not typical "vampires" or "devils". I'm having a helluva time getting the PDF from audible though, so I'll have to reach out to someone about that.

Historia
Miles Vorkosigan graduates from the Barrayaran Military Academy with high expectations of ship command, but is disappointed with an assignment as meteorologist to Lazkowski Base, an arctic training camp. His tenure in the windy, snow-covered north is cut short when Miles narrowly averts a massacre between the trigger-happy base commander and mutinous recruits. After a brief stay under 'house arrest', Miles is re-assigned to investigate a suspicious military build-up near a wormhole nexus.

politics! lost love! a refreshingly loving father!
Revisado: 04-12-22
loved this. it was sweet, witty, smart, funny. I'm so glad to finally read a story about a man who doesn't measure up physically who has a father who loves him openly and honestly despite his deformity. I'm so glad to read a story about a suicidal depressed person who is able to talk to their friend about their problems without being ashamed. I'm so glad to read a story like this one. I'm hooked!

Historia
War has come to Discworld...again. And, to no one's great surprise, the conflict centers around the small, insufferably arrogant, strictly fundamentalist duchy of Borogravia, which has long prided itself on its ability to beat up on its neighbors. This time, however, it's Borogravia that's getting its long-overdue comeuppance, which has left the country severely drained of young men.

I love how Stephen Briggs performs Terry Pratchett
Revisado: 12-05-19
Terry Pratchett is amazing, and the way Stephen Briggs performs the story is perfect. The feminism in this story is fantastic, and I feel so seen! Down to his comments about needing pockets and women's work being "monotonous, back breaking, and social".
