Love Susan Erikson’s work, always. The Death series is an automatic download. I hope JD doesn’t go for more sex in the series, while I enjoy a bit of erotica that is not what I am looking for in this series.

I have to start with the performance. The voices for all of the parts were cringe worthy. The women sounded like they were on helium and the men sounded like women pretending to be little old men. The story was severely underdeveloped and the relationships gave me the creeps. I will not be listening to this author again.

Performance ruined it

I never, and I do mean never, write reviews on audiobooks but I couldn't let this one go. The story itself is OK, it is NOT in the "Fifty Shades" league by a long shot but i finished it.
It is the performers that had me thisclose to returning it. The male voice kept reminding me of those black and white, old time detective films. I kept waiting for him to say"I saw the shadow on the glass in my door and thought this time there is no escape". It was very distracting. The female voice was almost worse, whiny with inflections misplaced causing me to wince with every sentence.
The amount of mispronounced words in the book is astounding! Are these books reviewed before they are published?

What would have made Accidental SEAL better?

If someone with a vocabulary and imagination better than an horny 8th grade girl wrote the book.

What could Sharon Hamilton have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I honestly believe the author has never had a sexual relationship in her life. The story read as though she is young virgin daydreaming about her favorite fantasy. Not a word in the book even approached reality.

What didn’t you like about J. D. Hart’s performance?

Hmmmmm, let's see....oddly placed inflections, really horrific pronunciations, lack of different intonations for each character, flat affect.

What character would you cut from Accidental SEAL?

I could only listen to the book for an hour before deleting it. During that time I did not meet anyone I would keep except, perhaps, the manager of the real estate agency and even he made such an impression I can't remember his name.

Any additional comments?

I will never buy a book from this author again.

I'm so disappointed

Would you try another book from Sherrilyn Kenyon and/or Fred Berman?

I am so disappointed in this book! I was only able to listen approx. 1/2 of part one, none of 2 or 3 and most of 4. I get that we are to really feel Styxx's angst but I was beat over the head with it until I just couldn't stand it anymore. I am not a moron, I understand I was supposed to feel his unrelenting pain and disappointment, I didn't need hours upon hours of it!
I usually enjoy Ms. Kenyon's books and I will try another although my tolerance will be at an all time low.

If you’ve listened to books by Sherrilyn Kenyon before, how does this one compare?

This book is very low on my list of favorites, in fact I am going to try to return it.

What didn’t you like about Fred Berman’s performance?

There were times I was distracted by his attempts at different voices although to be fair....it could have been attributed to my dislike of the story.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Styxx?

Pretty much all of it, certainly the repetitive beatings and rapes.
