This is an interesting tale. I think it is a great preteen/ teen book. It deals with a preteen boys struggle with grief and tragedy. Mostly it’s a comic book-like story with depth.

Best Audible I’ve listened to this year! Listen and be enthralled!
Revisado: 05-03-24
I have a new favorite author. The world building in this book is nothing short of amazing. I love predicting how a stories will play out in the books I read. I was so happy that I couldn’t quite figure this one out. I was wrong time and again and I was happy about it. I enjoyed this book so much.
The sequel is better than the original and that says a lot considering the first book was a solid 10/10. This book is not a mushy clean love story. It’s messy and raw and real! The characters are well developed and you truly get to know them as they are expertly weaved into the tale. You’ll feel the loss of the characters and mourn them as if you’re part of the story.
Karina and Malik’s story is tragically beautiful. You will both love and hate the characters, but you’ll never say they aren’t realistic. I love to read hard copy books but I’m glad I listened to this book on audible. The voice actors really brought the story to life. If you only have one credit a month for your subscription like I do use it on this book. It is worth it! If you only listen to one book this year…this should be IT!

Historia
This is the way the world ends, for the last time. The season of endings grows darker, as civilization fades into the long cold night. Essun - once Damaya, once Syenite, now avenger - has found shelter, but not her daughter. Instead there is Alabaster Tenring, destroyer of the world, with a request. But if Essun does what he asks, it would seal the fate of the Stillness forever. Far away, her daughter Nassun is growing in power - and her choices will break the world.

Historia
More than two centuries after World War III poisoned the planet, the final bastion of humanity lives on massive airships circling the globe in search of a habitable area to call home. Aging and outdated, most of the ships plummeted back to Earth long ago. The only thing keeping the two surviving lifeboats in the sky are Hell Divers - men and women who risk their lives by skydiving to the surface to scavenge for parts the ships desperately need.

I liked the thrilling nature of the story. The characters were simple and heroic. The ending was a little sad, but I guess it helps continue the story.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Revisado: 02-24-23
I enjoyed this book. It was raw and emotional. It was also funny. It was mostly a really sad and tragic story of family drama. Family drama is the worst kind of drama and the royals have it in spades. It does offer a better picture of what’s really been going on.

General Alex Dumas is a man almost unknown today, yet his story is strikingly familiar—because his son, the novelist Alexandre Dumas, used his larger-than-life feats as inspiration for such classics as The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers.

History well written, The Black Count is extraordinary!!!
Revisado: 05-11-19
I loved this book. I ended up buying a hard copy because I liked listening to it so much. While unraveling the life of General Dumas a wonderful homage to the historical battles and conquest of the French Revolution is beautifully woven into this story. It is not a dull biography of facts and details, but a well told story of the triumphs and trials of an 18th century Frenchman/ “American.” While his many accomplishments are celebrated the details relating to the French Revolution are part of the story. It’s not the whole story though and that’s what makes the novel so interesting. The life of a biracial aristocrat in France is another caveat to the extraordinary life of General Dumas. Race and race relations are laid out in a less poignant, more matter of fact fashion that makes it clear how color lines were drawn.
The frame story is a tale of adventure, mystery, and intrigue in itself. I’d recommend this book to any reader, but especially those that like historical nonfiction!
