Dead pan narration and unlikable author
Revisado: 10-11-21
I wanted to like this book. The author narrates in a dead-pan manner and is extremely unlikable. She marries when it is good for her career. Her pets are abandoned to a shelter. Her dad is a piece of garbage (not her fault) and she doesn't come across as someone nice. She's now married to a Kennedy (third marriage). I rarely give up on reading or listening to a book, but this one I'm giving up on. I'm a runner and listen to audiobooks when I run, do other exercise, or drive. This one lost me. Wasted a credit.

Historia
An early architect of punk rock's sound, style, and fury, whose lip-curling sneer and fist-pumping persona vaulted him into pop's mainstream as one of MTV's first megastars, Billy Idol remains, to this day, a true rock 'n' roll icon. Now, in his long-awaited autobiography, Dancing with Myself, Idol delivers an electric, searingly honest account of his journey to fame - from his early days as front man of the pioneering UK punk band Generation X to the decadent life atop the dance-rock kingdom he ruled.

Nice Regency mystery
Revisado: 12-03-13
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mrs Poole and Leo
Have you listened to any of Barbara Rosenblat’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Haven't heard her other stuff, but she is excellent. Great with voicing men and women and giving them each a unique sound. Very few narrators can do this (Rosalyn Landor is another one who can pull it off), but she does male and female equally well. It was easy to follow along and get wrapped up in the story. I plan on checking into her other work.
Any additional comments?
This book really shouldn't be labeled as romance. Yes, there is romance, but it's really a backdrop to the mystery. This book is primarily a mystery with twists and turns. This is not the typical historical romance.

Revisado: 09-20-13
What did you love best about The Scent of Rain?
I'm a big fan of KB's for a long time and she never disappoints. This is an excellent book about getting through when life gives you lemons. There's also more to the character Kenzie than meets the eye.
What does Angela Dawe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She does an excellent job voicing the different characters and brings them to life.

Wonderful autobio, but sort of deadpan delivery
Revisado: 03-31-13
What did you like best about this story?
When he was in BUD/S & when he dealt with the bullies in elementary school.
What aspect of Rorke Denver’s performance would you have changed?
He's a pit dead pan and would have liked to have seen more of his personality come through. The story might have been served better by a professional reader like Ray Porter. Loved his narration of Howard Wasdin's & Kevin Mitnick's books.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The BUD/S hallucinations made me laugh.

Historia
From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan ("the devil") and placed a bounty on his head.

Which scene was your favorite?
When he took down the drug dealer thinking he was an actor in a role-play scenario and when he moons his neighbor.
Any additional comments?
Great pacing and I also liked that the book gives his wife Taya's perspective. Her POV gives insight into the sacrifices those left at home go through.

Revisado: 12-12-12
I don't have a whole lot to add that the item description doesn't already say, but the story is a nail-biting adventure that keeps the listener on edge. Swanson's performance is excellent. Even though this series is considered YA, adults will love it to for the suspense and action.
