Historia
A groundbreaking work of science fiction, The Left Hand of Darkness tells the story of a lone human emissary to Winter, an alien world whose inhabitants can change their gender. His goal is to facilitate Winter's inclusion in a growing intergalactic civilization. But to do so he must bridge the gulf between his own views and those of the completely dissimilar culture that he encounters. Embracing the aspects of psychology, society, and human emotion on an alien world, The Left Hand of Darkness stands as a landmark achievement.

bad narrator
Revisado: 08-28-24
this book is classic and deserves better. A woman narrating would be nice, but at the very least, someone with better instincts for inflection.

Mediocre reading. Tedious story. No real ending.
Revisado: 09-22-22
Emily Woo Zeller's reading of the female characters were reductive and overwrought. The writing: Too many details, without capturing the reader's investment. The book is not self contained, but simply chopped at the end to be continued in the next. Will Damron's performance was very good, but he had a very small portion of the overall book.

Bronson Pinchot is awful on this
Revisado: 07-09-22
I'm assuming this is as good as most Heinlein novels. But Bronson Pinchot seems as though he must have dementia, emphasizing in the oddest spots, and missing others.

Great story. Too preachy
Revisado: 04-24-21
The first book in the series was good, but half way through the second book, I got very tired of the preaching that is a distraction from the plot. big turn off. Tiresome and indulgent, I don't need a sermon every other chapter. It's too bad because I was enjoying the story, and would have gone through the whole series.

Disappointed
Revisado: 01-12-21
I have enjoyed Dan Brown's work in the past but this is awful. The constant contrived and forced cliffhangers do not build suspense, rather they annoy you beyond reason. The basic plot is marginal and it is obvious this was written to become a cheap and quick screenplay.
if you liked DaVinci Code or Angels and Demons... this will be a huge disappointment. Tiresome, annoying, and predictable are the best things I can say.
The narration was good, at least that's something.
