Historia
Facebook sees it as the next post-Internet frontier, while Google sees it as a dangerous far west. You hear it mentioned more and more, even if it isn't entirely apparent what it means. It is, mostly because it does not yet exist in reality: The metaverse appears to be on the approach of becoming a reality. According to its proponents, it is capable of symbolizing the next technological revolution. The most well-known of these is undoubtedly Mark Zuckerberg, who is investing.

Good book for understanding the Metaverse
Revisado: 02-17-22
Pros. The book was very informative about the concept of the metaverse, portions of the concepts that exist right now, companies investing heavily and their plan.
Cons. The reader had a flat droning voice, some of the content and stories seemed repetitive, and the overall thought of investing in the metaverse was brushed aside.

Historia
Since the dawn of the digital age, decision-making in finance, politics, health, and human services has undergone revolutionary change. Today, automated systems control which neighborhoods get policed, which families attain needed resources, and who is investigated for fraud. While we all live under this new regime of data, the most invasive and punitive systems are aimed at the poor. In Automating Inequality, Virginia Eubanks systematically investigates the impacts of data mining, policy algorithms, and predictive risk models on poor and working-class people in America.

Excellent research, sprinkled with person bias
Revisado: 12-31-19
First off, the author did a great job outlining three use cases of the impacts of bad data, bias in algorithms, and lack of ethical standards impact on social services. it was very well written and easily consumable.
The portions I could do without were the injects of a very personal bias, which at times overshadowed her research. For example, the first 30 minutes of the story is a personal story of how she believes an algorithm in her health insurance unfairly targeted her. She was unable to validate that her issue stemmed from an algorithm, which she acknowledged. She made it clear from the beginning her personal beliefs which I believed muddied what was seemingly good research.

Historia
Alexander was born into the royal family of Macedonia, the kingdom that would soon rule over Greece. Tutored as a boy by Aristotle, Alexander had an inquisitive mind that would serve him well when he faced formidable obstacles during his military campaigns. Shortly after taking command of the army, he launched an invasion of the Persian Empire, and continued his conquests as far south as the deserts of Egypt and as far east as the mountains of present-day Pakistan and the plains of India.
