Historia
Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

Dark, but ok.
Revisado: 11-21-18
It wasn't one of my favorite reads. The family drama is quite dark and graphic. The triumph the protagonist experiences is bittersweet.

Yet, another great road trip book!
Revisado: 10-01-18
The twists and turns this story took kept my interest from beginning to end. If you enjoy historical fiction, read it! The immersion into the horrors of war, love, loss of loved ones, the raw truth of what was happening to prisoners of war and so much more, will leave me pondering this for years to come.

It's a good who done it. I do enjoy the narrator. There were a couple of moments where it was too predictable, but overall, a good read.

Historia
Even as historians credit Ronald Reagan and Pope John Paul II with hastening the end of the Cold War, they have failed to recognize the depth or significance of the bond that developed between the two leaders. cclaimed scholar and best-selling author Paul Kengor changes that. In this fascinating book, he reveals a singular bond - which included a spiritual connection between the Catholic pope and the Protestant president - that drove the two men to confront what they knew to be the great evil of the 20th century: Soviet communism.

Worth the Read
Revisado: 01-11-17
I'm sad to see the series end, but it is time. The character development and storyline are good. This is the first one I listened to. I think the narrator did a good job too.
I would like to know what a few things mean. There are a few loose ends, though. Oh well. It wraps up the big picture pretty well. Enjoy.

Historia
Are you happy? It may be the wrong question. Most of us think we are relatively happy, while at the same time knowing that we could be happier - maybe even a lot happier. Resisting Happiness is a deeply personal, disarmingly transparent look at why we sabotage our own happiness and what to do about it. Breaking through resistance, Kelly tells us, is essential to becoming the person that God created us to be. What is resistance? It's that sluggish feeling of not wanting to do something that you know is good for you.

Historia
The harrowing, true account from the brave men on the ground who fought back during the Battle of Benghazi. 13 Hours presents, for the first time ever, the true account of the events of September 11, 2012, when terrorists attacked the US State Department Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA station called the Annex in Benghazi, Libya. A team of six American security operators fought to repel the attackers and protect the Americans stationed there. Those men went beyond the call of duty, performing extraordinary acts of courage and heroism.

Quenched my thirst for truth
Revisado: 10-14-16
I appreciate these men and applaud their heroic actions. The unimaginable danger they faced is made only slightly clearer in their telling of their story. I despise the ever present politicians' and the news media's agendas. I want to know the truth and this story does give us their raw account and their perspective for those 13 hours. It's another important piece of the puzzle, not the whole puzzle, but a critical piece. God bless those men and those that fell on that fateful evening.
